Memorial Day Weekend

As some of you have heard from me, my family has fought in every war the United states has fought in all the way back to the revolutionary war. In the Revolutionary we fought as minute men for america. Civil war we went against eachother, Union was captured and taken to a POW camp where he escaped and reenlisted. WWI stuck in a trench like most soldiers, WWII Grandfather fought in the navy, Vietnam Mom's cousins dad. And current wars it's Mom and Dad's cousins fighting. My dad is a Former Marine.

I want to hear you're military experience/ history of your guy's family if you're okay sharing since it is Memorial weekend. And to our current and former members. Thank you for your service.

I've got a similar family history stormchaser. It's always cool to hear about peoples connections to our country's past.

One direct relative that fought in the Revolutionary war.

A couple in the war of 1812 and mexican-american war.

Lots of relatives in the civil war. One family had 7 something sons and all but one fought for the south. The one that fought for the north was the only one that lived. I've been to most of their gravesites at various battlefields down south. My direct relative James (my great x 5 grandpa) got injured building breastworks at the battle of Petersberg. The next day most of his unit was killed or wounded in an advance, so I guess that worked out to my advantage (lol).

Not 100% about spanish-american war.

A couple of great-great uncles in WW1.

All of my great uncles in WW2. One took a few rounds from an axis MG while landing in Italy and was left for dead (his unit came back later and he was still alive, lived many more years). Another was a ball turret gunner in a b29 (Vernon). One fought in the pacific campaign and picked up a Japanese rifle that I have possession of now. (Clyde)

My grandpa worked on jet engines in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Here is pic of him and his good friend Carwood Lipton. They worked together closely at OI for many years. My dad remembers mowing his lawn back in the day.

A bunch of Vietnam vets, including one green beret that did 4-5 tours. He now lived in a hand-built cabin on a mountain in Wyoming. I know he saw and did a lot of crazy things over there.

After that I've had a bunch of cousins in the various recent conflicts.

One of my father's big hobbies is genealogy and I'm grateful that he has spent the time to uncover a lot of our past.

As you can tell I'm quite proud of all these guys!

My great grand parents met in a concentration camp in WWII, they had my grandpa there...my great grandma is still around, she has some truly amazing stories.

My Mother's Grandfather was in the German army in WWII, My Father's Father's Brother served in the US Army in WWII. My Father's Father served in the Navy, Pacific theater during WWII. My Mother's Father server in the USAF in Vietnam, My Mother's Sister was in Nuclear Artillery in Europe during the Cold war. My Father served 30 years in the Army, and I served 11 in the USAF from 2000-2011, I participated in most major operations during that time period.
