hl2.exe errors

Hello,

Whenever I join a CS game about 1 minute into game it crashes and gives me the following error.

Does anyone have a solution to fixing this?

This happens to a lot of people.

The easiest way to try and fix this issue is to verify your game cache. To do this, simply go into your Steam Library and....

-Right Click on Counter-Strike: Source in the list on the left side of the Steam window
-Click on the "Local Files" tab at the top of the window
-Finally, click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"

This should fix your issues. If not, then a full reinstallation of the game may be required. Let me know how it goes!

Its not really a general response. He gave some advice on what he can do to fix that issue. I've had problems with HL2.exe and verifying game cache can fix it. So can reinstalling the game. He hasent given us any real information other than he gets an error.

Telling someone to immediately reinstall a game after 1 fix attempt doesn't fix anything, it ignores the source problem. If you have a virus on your PC, I don't immediately say "LET'S REFORMAT IT BECAUSE YOUR AVS DIDN'T WORK" I sit down, analyze the problem, and move on from that point.

If a reinstall is required, let's work up to that point, not reinstall it right off the bat because a program is crashing and one solution didn't work.

Every problem, every situation is unique. What works for you may not work for others. You expand your knowledge by solving problems, not bypassing them. This is being a technician.

Either way, we are a community and through teamwork we will solve this individuals problem.

Of course. I just think you came off a little harsh on him for saying a solution. I am not saying that clearing your cache will fix it for you. But reinstalling the game and retrying to play could help. If he experiences the same problems after reinstalling, you can diagnose it further, right?

I say try the cache, let Ric help you if that doesn't work and if none of that works I suggest reinstalling the game to see if the problem occurs again. It could be something conflicting with the game.

Does this happen on eGO servers only or any server in general?

it's the MOTD you have to disable it.
