it's true that a lot of people think girls just don't play this game. before reading this thread, I knew more 10-year old boys who played then girls. I met two girls in-game today, and quite frankly, I think it's a good thing. people don't think of video games as a social venue, but they are.

look at things like everquest. you have people meeting in game, and then getting married later. the do quests together, blah blah blah. I think it would be just as romantic to some to blow the head off of a spy together.

anyhow, I'm glad that stereotypes are beginning to fall a bit. usually, when you think of these type of games, you assume you will be playing with guys. it's good that those misconceptions are starting to get kicked.

NaaD, welcome aboard

It's been interesting over the few weeks I've been playing TF2. It's the only FPS I've ever played (and enjoyed). I used to sit and watch my husband (Helen, You Look Like a Helen) play for hours. I finally started playing and am totally hooked. I'm not the best, but I try, and I'm all about working together and mostly having fun! I've heard there's a boys v. girls match cooking up, and it'd be fun to play side by side and show the guys how it's done!

A lot of people think I'm a guy. Its pretty funny. Someone asked me what I did in daily life, so I told him I study to become a nurse. He said I have to ask this, are you gay? Lol he didnt think of the fact that I could be a girl.

Being a guy myself, it's hard to know, ladies, when you're playing. And yeah, the first assumption is that you're a "guy" and I'm not sure why. With communication becoming easier online (vent and such) gaming is becoming more social, which I have heard is a major complaint about computer games. This makes working in teams much easier, getting to know each other easier, and draws a variety of people. I say the more the merrier and I think it's great there are more women joining eGO. Welcome ladies!

I've actually had a quite a few guys who thought I was a 12 year old boy! They hear the feminine voice, and of course it *gasp* could never be that I'm a girl (even though my name?!). It's easier to accept they've just been flame-broiled by a twelve year old than a female XD

lols just kidding, it drives me insane when people don't believe that the person playing is a woman. And what even makes me more upset, is when they find out it is a woman, the instantly start hitting on them.

"Wow, a chic with a hot voice on our team" then they go medic and heal that person only... -.- Ive seen that case so many times.
