League Overview
The league will be modeled similar to the UGC competitive leagues. Teams will be a smaller composite of the standard 12 person team. Team size is 4 players resulting in 4v4 competition. Class restrictions will be in effect.
Teams will play each other in a yet-to-be-determined order, likely either round robin or pool play.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it true? TF2 will have an open competitive league?
A: YES.
Q: Can I play in the league even though I'm not an eGO member?
A: YES! All you would need to do is register an account and get MAUL verified. If you are having problems getting MAUL verified, feel free to contact any eGO ranked member.
Q: Can I pick anyone to join my team?
A: Yes, subject to the following rules:
All Players:

Q: Wait, wait, I really want to participate, but don't know of any open teams! Is there any other way to get on a team?
A: Well, you can make a post in the free agents list. Feel free to describe your strengths and favorite classes if you like. Just make sure to edit your post when you get on a team so that people know if you're still available.
Teams and Players
Q: How many teams will there be?
A: Approximately 10 to 14. At least eight are needed to start the league. There is a tentative cap of 32.
Q: How many players will be on each team?
A: 4 with 2 additional players listed as substitutes or reserve players. All 6 must meet team eligibility guidelines.

A: Once rosters are frozen, No. Rosters are frozen one week after the first match begins.
Q: What if I can not make a match with my team?
A: If you can not make a match, your team will need to call a reserve player or play short-handed.
Q: Can I volunteer to be a substitute?

Q: Can reserve players play on multiple teams?
A: No. You can only be a reserve player on one team.
Q: Are European players eligible?
A: Yes.

Q: I need a few more players for my team. Can I advertise for players?
A: Yes, subject to the following rules:
- No posts for teams in eG private or eGO private.
- No posts for teams in non-TF2 divisional areas (i.e. Main: General or other divisions).
- Posts MUST be respectful and tout your team. They MUST NOT degrade, diminish, or undercut any other team or its recruiting posts.
PERMITTED:
Join Suzie McTestor's team. She needs another soldier to join her already excellent jellybean army! We're a group of old-time eGO'ers looking to have some fun!
NOT PERMITTED:
Join Suzie's team. All of the other team's suck! We're the best! We're gonna roll all the other teams!
Match Questions
Q: How long will a season last?
A: About 4 to 6 weeks with a one or two week playoff.
Q: When will the league start?
A: The league is planned to start around July 7th.
Q: Where will matches be held?
A: On the eGO League server (subject to change).
Q: How are matches scheduled?
A: Matches will not be "preset" or "prescheduled." Instead, matches will be scheduled by the two teams during time periods when a referee is available. For example, in week one, the schedule may say "Team A" plays "Team B". Teams A and B would then need to consult with each other and select from a timeslot when a referee is available.
Q: When will referees be available?
A: Event Coordination team members will be referees and plans are currently to have availability most days of the week and during the evening and night hours.
Q: When will schedules be posted?
A: Within 48 hours of the roster deadline, July 1st.
Q: How will the match winner be determined?
A: The winner of a match is determined by total score points.
Q: How long will each match be?
A: Each match will consist of one 30 minute round.
Q: How will points in a match be determined?
A: The first team to reach 5 points in the round shall be declared the winner.
If neither team reaches 5 points by the round, the team with the highest points total shall be declared the winner.
Q: How will the league winner be determined?
A: Tentatively, the top 8 teams will be placed into a single elimination tournament at the end of the league season. The winner of the tournament will become the league champion.
Q: What does the league winner get?
A: eGO TF2 glory for sure. Further prizes are being decided and will be announced later.
Gameplay Questions
Q: Will crits be enabled or disabled?
A: Random criticals will be disabled. Standard criticals, such as the medic kritzkrieg gun and KGB will still be accessible.
Q: Can I use any or all of the unlockables?
A: This is being discussed. Currently, rules state these as the banned weapons:
The Gunslinger
Crit-a-Cola
The Vita-Saw
Darwin's Danger Shield
The Bazaar Bargain
The Quick-Fix
The Reserve Shooter
The Short Circuit
Bombinomicon
The Pomson 6000
The Jingle Belt
The Bootie Time
Baby Face's Blaster
The Red-Tape Recorder
The Vaccinator
Any of the taunts that effect multiple players
This list is subject to change.
In the case of a the most recent TF2 Update, any new weapons are not to be permitted.
Q: Which maps will be used?
A: Standard competition maps will be used. CP style maps will be used for the inaugural season.
Q: Why not CTF maps?
A: CTF maps do not lend themselves well to a smaller competitive type format.
Q: Will I be able to practice with my team?
A: Yes, practice times will be made available.
Q: I've never played TF2 like this before, what should I expect?
A: Expect a fast paced and much more intense style of play than traditional 12 v 12 play.
Communication is the critical component to success in this format. An understanding of the pace of the game such as respawn times and enemy positioning as well as knowledge of your own team's actions and whereabouts is critical.
Q: What is a "typical" team composition?
A: Players are free to choose any class that they want. The only restrictions are one of each class per team. Aside from that, the only rule is that there never be both a heavy and a medic on one team at the same time. Doing so can result in a penalty and a round forfeit.
