So after the collasal ass beating we took by the hands of 18-19 year old Brazilian kids on CEVO last night it was really bugging me. I know the netcode issue but never really looked into the advantage that players from other countries that server hop on NA servers to find out that is the reason why I was dead moments after spawn or before he saw me round the corner. I know eGO does not set ping limits and I was a very staunch supporter of it. But within the past couple weeks I have seen people with pings of 250 or higher go on streaks of 65-5 and yes I would just be like well they must be that good and they could be. But it seems that everything is making sense. The whole WT crew that comes into our servers, grabs armor and unleashes hell on our pubs and members have started to wear out their welcome.
My team yesterday, guys I know I am confident in jumping into the bush with, were annihilated. The research I have done today is overwhelming evident that high ping players purposely come into us servers to be untouchable. Who knows maybe I am not as good as I thought I was. But seeing members who I respect as great players getting smoked was what fustrated me to no ends...

Maybe we as a community who host amazing servers should look into this high ping issue. Or at least start some convo about it?

If we do this we will have to kick DarkRaven out every time  But I see where you're coming from, but I don't think people are purposefully lagging themselves or coming on our servers because they are lagging. When my brother starts downloading games and eating up the wifi, my ping goes to the 150s-200s, and at that point playing BF is not fun for me, so having a higher ping I imagine is not fun either. I mean unless they like bouncing around with rubber banding just to get kills. I play for fun and it is not fun to lag. Playing laggy just for stats is just unreasonable and unlikely in my eyes. I support the no-ping-limit rule still, but that's just my opinion.

just a few days ago when i was playing with edgar and shrapnel we were filling the dragons teeth server. my ping is around 135-145. when it comes to close quarters it seems like i had a small advantage because edgar and shrapnel both said sometimes they didnt really see me pop around a corner and kill them while i could clearly see them on my screen.

on the topic: this is a tough question. where would we set the limit? i personally havent had those matches you had but ive noticed an increased amount of players with higher pings. at this point the servers are going good and part of it comes from those highpingers. if we remove some of them, will our servers still be filled? for now i believe we should not add a ping limit unless we get more and more of those matches that rizzo described. maybe keep an eye out for those who are lagging around and ppl talk about in chat.

Setting in place such a limit will effectively barr players like me, Sajora, flying dutchman and every other member of edgegamers from playing on eGO servers regardless on where in the world they are located.

I think it's for this reason council says no on limiting ping because that will pose a big limitation on where our members can play, and it's simply not fair. Before the arguement that high pingers hace a huge advantage i can say out of experience this is not allways correct, anything over 170 ping can cause MASSiVE rubberbands which makes you an easy target not to mention completely unable to move.

A solution however (For CEVO matches at least) could be to play one round on each teams server, so forexample one round on eGO's server and one round on the other teams server

My 0.02$ on this matter

Oh no I agree with everyone here and wouldn't want to alienate our members or pubs. I guess the CEVO team didn't add a perffered server to our list forcing the team to play on theirs. It's a catch 22 subject because if there was a limit then we would loose our membership overseas which I am not about. But us as admins or the senior leadership should be have a little more scrutiny when it comes to some of these high lingers from China, Brazil and the such. FPSu a newer member had brought up his concerns with wt-fireeee and the rest of that crew. I know they are tank hoarders or whatever but on foot these guys are wiping the floor with the general pubs causing major grief.

The question then is what do we do? We can't accuse of anyone of exploiting or hacking unless there is concrete evidence but we aren't here to he like oh snaps it's "one of them" and switch over to spectator mode to go on a witch hunt.

I do appreciate the willingness of others here that have put in their two cents. Guess in the future soap-money or shadowlerks needs to update our perffered gaming server to be a local US server.

Rizzo I absolutely hate high pingers. It drives me nuts and i do rage quit. But we are an international clan and actually I know of a few players who just had bad internet because they live in the middle of nowhere. Yes I would love to set a ping level but we have to many friends who have the high pings.

Prior to getting my own 4G internet, I had to use a local wi-fi. I always played on our servers not just that they're ours but also that when my ping would spike high, I wouldn't get kicked. I agree about the advantage high pingers get but I never saw it when my ping was high. It actually made it worse for me. I played BF4 from release to about 4 months ago on that wifi and had a 0.5 K/D ratio due to my ping jumping all over the place. Since I got my own, my stats have been slowly (don't get to play every day) coming back to the 1+ K/D I always enjoyed on consoles. So I agree with the decision of no ping limit for our members who wouldn't be able to play our servers otherwise and agree that a solution for an instance like Rizzo stated not to be repeated being found. I know we got some good players here and an absolute handing of our asses shouldn't be happening.

I find that if there a just a few high pingers the servers seem to run okay. But, it was crazy last night. I was on around midnight EDT and the Locker server was packed with high pings. I got one-shot killed by so many Brazilians I started speaking Portuguese. :)

p.s. That was my attempt at humor. I'm really not a xenophobe. :D

Alright guys im gonna address this again. Here at Edge Gamers we do not set ping limits for our servers. Many of our members and pubs play from all around the world on various connections. Sometimes it seems like high pingers have the advantage when also low ping players are just as hard to kill for normal pings as well. In BFBC2 the game limits itself around 500 ping limit and could kick you out or disconnect you. This is not a setting that we have set but has been set by EA/DICE. In other battlefield games it is not set. Now for competition we might be able to discuss setting ping limits for competitive play.
