Trying to find a good notebook

I have been trying to find a good notebook on Newegg and a few other sites. Right now it seems like there are a few out there only around $250-$300.

I need help trying to find a good one that is fast and good for searching the web and a few small end games. My budget is roughly $300.

I know that there are several out there ranging that price.

What kind of small end games are you talking about? Have you also looked at ebay and craigslist (or similar)? It's good that you're keeping it at a very basic function for the price as that helps the selection process. Do you have a preference in parts or design?
 
I done more research since I did this post and I am thinking that ASUS or ACER is the two that I will be choosing from and it seems like if I want one with good GHz I will have to pay a few hundred more.

After I thought about it I probably won't be gaming on it and just do web browsing and just very minimal stuff. I could get the Chromebook but idk

I have yet to look at craigslist or ebay, I really don't have a preference.
At least it can be 15" screen, I don't want it touch screen and I don't care if it is Windows 8.1

Very large screen for a super tight budget when you're looking for some performance to play even small end games. Acer and ASUS might not be your best choice in this scenario and just because a laptop has "good GHz" doesnt mean its fast. An intel pentium could say it had 4GHz and it will never even remotely come close to touching the performance in an i7.
 
Well now that I think about it I would not use it for gaming just web browsing. I have found one that I might end up getting but I don't really know. Both of those brands I have bought in the past and there was nothing really wrong with them. One was $350 or so I think and the other was $1000. One was medium end at the time and the one that I had a while back before I bought parts for a custom computer was a high end laptop that I really liked gaming on.

Hopefully there is something in Staples, Amazon or Newegg that I can find that will work. Technically the main brands of laptops are good for web browsing so I will have to do more research.

So this machine will be purely for web browsing? If so then yeah that Asus laptop will do fine. Even though the processor and "Intel HD Graphics" (lolnotHD.) are crap. :p
