Is a G Force 520 series a good graphic card?

Ok so i bought deadisland riptide on steam and i tried it out it's lagging like alot and i even put on the lowest setting possible and still laggy what good graphic card is good for this game instead of a 520 series because i might buy one to make it better for gaming please help

The card you have is very slow.

What is your budget for cards?

And a computer is only as strong as it's weakest part, so upgrading a bad card with a better card and having a bad system won't do you much good.

This card was released back in 2011 as a budget alternative card. Budget cards are known for being rather poor cards for gaming. Given that this is at least a 3 year old card, you can do the math whether or not its a good card.

It runs CoD4 at 1920x1200 under 16 fps; at 1280x1024, it's up to 26.9 fps (both with 2xAA, 8xAF)

Another way to put it; it doesn't exceed 20 fps playing WoW at 1024 or 1280. This is a severely weak card for gaming.

Let me explain something else to you that may help you to understand about video cards. When it comes to nVidia video cards it usually goes like this for performance:

So say you have a 5xx series card. Anything below 550 is considered low profile gaming, which as Snipeye explains performs very poorly on games in general. Those kind of video cards are really well designed for games that are easily 3-4 years old.

A 550-560 video card is considered a mid range video card. It will play most current games at a decent rate (35-60 frames per second).

Anything video card that is over 560 is considered a high profile video card (aka bang for your buck). These video cards are really known for pretty much handling anything you throw at them (especially at 1920x1200).

So in review: 520-540 = low profile, 550-560 = mid range, 570+ = high profile.

Well, if you are on tight budget I would suggest getting a gtx 750ti. Make sure you have a sufficient Power supply before buying.

Im actually looking to go after the same video card (once I set aside the $$). My $$ is going after the Go Pro camera first. Theres a race that ive already set my $$ on & im gonna make sure I can record it in time.
