Steam says I'm in-game when I just left

Every time I disconnect or exit out of Counter Strike Source or Counter Strike Global Offensive,
It says that I am still in the game at the top of my friends list. The process is already disconnected also when I check my task bar. When I try to exit out of steam to restart it, it says that I have to exit out of the game first. When I restart my steam by exiting out of the process, everything is normal and I am in the "Online" mode. Does anyone else have this problem and how can I fix this?

I have this problem once in a while but not frequently enough that I've had to worry about it. No clue how to fix it but you're not alone!

Its an issue with steam side servers that probably dont update when you're in a game or not. I highly doubt anyone here can really help on this situation.

To fix this issue lets say you just closed Counter-Strike:Global Offensive, csgo.exe, and it says you are still playing it. Simply just press Ctrl+Alt+Del and open task manager. Then, press processes and look for csgo.exe either click it or right click then press End Process. This happens a few times where the game does not full close its engine out. If you need to know what the exe of your game is called look in your steamapps, nope this helped.

I had the issue before and ProCombat is correct. I have found out that some of my games do not fully quit out when I exit out of them. Check and see if you see the games in your task manager. You can also press control+shift+escape and it would open up task manager. Check for HL2.exe(CS:S, TF2, GMOD, and all other source games) or CSGO.exe (Couterstike:Global Offensive). Not sure if there is a permanent fix for it to stop the engine from not staying open after the game closes.
