[poll] Skins?!!amazed

Eh, I use skins for CS:S but for TF2, the weapons don't look all that weird, so i haven't used any.

so then is it ok for you to use skins...it wont kick you or anything? i never knew somone want to tell if its ok to use skins just so i make sure and if you can where i can get some thanks

I might, but I feel that some of the skins I've seen for Tf2 look too serious, and wouldn't fit the cartoon-ish style of the game.

Some servers turn custom skins off but you shouldn't get banned for using skins. I have a whole bunch of skins for my game and it adds sort of a personal touch and can spice up some of the less interesting weapons.

I enjoy the skins for Tf2 already and you can use skins as a way to get an advantage...kinda lame.

I only have one concern. I downloaded one skin, It's a spy's knife. When you cloak, you can still see the knife if your spy has it. I haven't checked if I can see spies who aren't disguised while cloaked, but just to let you know.

last time i used a skin subartic put it on for me in CSS and my deagle artifacted and sounded like the pistol from the original half life until i re-installed windows. so thats a no

I love skins! I replaced pretty much everything that was skinnable in CS:S. For TF, though, there aren't too many great skins, but I've installed every one I could find that I liked. One of the reasons I love the eGO servers so much is that they allow custom skins. A lot of servers don't, which sucks.

I used to skin everything, operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), and would install any add-ons, skins, etc for games that I could find. Eventually, I realized that all that stuff sucks CPU cycles and ends up being a pain in the arse to reconfigure. I finally decided that if a game designer couldn't make a game look good enough to play, then I wouldn't fix it for them.

fps banana is an awesome site I have the ghostbusters medic skin and it's incredible ^^ lol

can some one help me install them heh i dont know were to install em to :p

This is a good place to start.

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\"steam username"\team fortress 2\tf\materials\models

If the folder doesn't exist you need to create it because originally the directory's for custom skins don't exist. The certain folders after that point depend on the skin your installing and hopefully whoever made the files already stuck them in the right path and you just have to copy and paste. If not try downloading another skin from the same section and use that as an example.
