I have a Geforce 7600 and I want to upgrade and I am not sure what I should get. I have the seen the 800gts on sale for $200 and I was wondering if anybody has tried this card or has any other good ideas. Thanks %-6

I personally have the 8600 GTS, and love it. It can run TF2 on pretty much everything high, at a steady 30 fps.
I have also seen a lot of people on these forums talk about the 8800, and apparently that is better.

I have an 8800GTX, and yes, it's amazing. I'm able to run Crysis DX10 on Very High.
It's still quite expensive though, but the 8800GT is an amazing card for the money.

Wow. How much did you get yours for?
My 8600 GTS can only run Crysis on medium.

I have an 8800GT, and let me tell you, this thing is amazing. I have the BFG 8800GT OC to be specific, I got it for about 270 dollars, and I am not been disappointed, once.
I run Crysis on High, and it does actually do very hight reasonably well, it only has some minor slowdown when massive explosions happen. (Which is constantly, when I am playing.)
I play TF2, everything maxed, and I don't know my exact frame rate, but it is plenty fast.
If you look at benchmarks, these cards compare very favorably to the more expensive GTX, even out performing it in some cases.
So if you want bang for your buck, get an 8800GT. In my opinion it is the best card out there, at the moment. But some other people may have differing opinions, we will just have to wait and see what they say.

Yeah depends on what you want but I'd say 8800GT or GTS 512. I have the 8800 GTS 512 and I can overclock the poop out of it to 800/1850/2000 (core, shader, memory) on air. The GT will run a little warmer (because it is single slot) about 50C idle and upwards of 60+ depending on caseflow. Either one is great depending on your budget. Otherwise, if you're going to go all out, the GeForce 9 series should be here next month or so.

I've also got the 8800, the 640mb one. With my processor (2.66ghz) I can run Crysis on very high settings as well. I've had it for more than a year and it's still kicking. You can actually get the 768mb one for less than I paid for mine a year ago. Anyway, here's a link to what I have:

I have an EVGA 8800 GTX with 768mb, and it's astounding. I'm on XP and haven't cracked Crysis so I can't go higher than High on all the settings, but at 1680x1050 with everything High it runs at a constant 30fps (I'm guessing, I haven't checked an fps gauge but I rarely notice slowdown). It kicks TF2's butt--I have all settings maxed aside from anti-aliasing, which is at something like 4x or 6x, but I've never cared about it that much. Anyhow, it's uncommon that TF2 drops below 60fps.

I STILL wouldn't out-rule and ATI HD 3850/3870. Sure, they're not the huge performer of the 8800's but the thing it does have is cooler operation. Mine runs 16 degrees Farenheit cooler than my friends computer that is almost identical (Execept processor and RAM). It's a decent price on Newegg. If you want to play games like TF2 those cards would be more than enough. Just a thought and I know everyone loves their 8800's. If you go with an 8800 just make sure to get a G92
