does anyone know how this compares to an 8800GTS or a GT. Cause if it is almost as good this is very interesting....

Its going to perform worse than the 8800GT, and I believe it is comparable to the 8800GTS 320MB

Just save a bit more and get a 8800gt...

or a used 8800Gt.

^ Actually, GTs cost more then the GSes....

Gts are better, get one of those if you can.

The structure for the 8800s.... is as follows

8800GS < 8800GT < 8800GTS (g92) < 8800GTX

So I do agree with you that they cost more, for a better performing card.

I wonder if it will work with my motherboard. I tried a 8800gt and my system wouldn't even POST. After further research... the 8800gt isn't compatible with my mobo (asus m2v).. due to a pci-e 1.0 vs a pci-e 1.1 or 2.0 issue.

So maybe this 8800 maybe doesnt require a 1.1 or 2.0 pci-e slot?

I'm pretty sure that any graphics card that has been released within the past year or so is going to require pci-e at a certain level.

I do know that the GT can use pci-e 2.0, but it isn't required.

All the PCIe x16 specs are fully backwards and forwards compatible. I have a PCIe 2.0 card running on my PCIe 1.1 board just fine.

Maybe what you're having is a PSU issue? Like maybe your PSU is not powerful enough to boot everything?

And for the original post, it seems that the GS is lower than the GT, and it looks slightly on par with the G80 GTS, and possibly a little lower due to the smaller memory interface.

Personally I'd try to save up a little bit more and get the GT.
