For the first time the Newsletter Team put out a Special Edition, on August 22, chronicling the DOD Division's Realism Campaign 11. The exciting details of the battle can be found here.

This issue of the newsletter is packed with the information and entertainment you have come to expect. We relish the chance to report on the tremendous BF zombie event hosted by the trifecta of eGO, DICE and Cooler Master. We would also like to welcome smitty2213 as our newest reporter and welcome back Superglue, a former reporter, who has returned as an editor.

Teaser: Blaze secured an interview from a very special person. His interview will be posted in the October 2014 Newsletter and is a must read!

Well, I am off to Myrtle Beach, SC. I will be back more relaxed than ever by the time you read this newsletter. :)

This month's articles were reviewed and edited by Blaze and Superglue.

Versed, filled in at the last moment to create some amazing graphics.

The Newsletter Team is looking for editors and reporters. Because of the access to sensitive information, we do prefer those of eGO rank. If you are interested, and qualified, please send a pm to wewo.

"Good news is rare to find these days, and every glittering ounce should be cherished and worshiped and fondled like a priceless diamond." - Hunter S. Thompson

Journalism. It's an enigma wrapped in a puzzle sometimes. Despite its intricacy, we all understand it at one level or another. Every nation depends on it being delivered. We live in a world where everyone's connected. We all want information at the touch of a fingertip, especially when it comes to the news. So who makes it all possible? Broadcasters, writers, reporters, artists, and editors just to name a few. For EdgeGamers, a dedicated team of individuals works behind the scenes to bring you the news relevant to our community.

EdgeGamers has a few media teams that now work under the same banner. The News Team, Newsletter Team, and Media Team now muster together as EdgeGamers Media. At the helm stands Division Leader Quaffer. We have wewo heading up the Newsletter Team as Advisor, while TheJollyRoger fills the other Advisor billet, leading the News Team. These teams have come together so as to be freely able to communicate creatively and swap journalistic and media talents. It also means that all Media teams will now be able to work more efficiently with one another. Now, all this is still a work in progress. The team leaders are working tirelessly on fully integrating EdgeGamers Media into the community. At present, all the teams are adjusting to the changes. Despite those changes, it's business as usual.

The Newsletter Team has a steady flow of aspiring writers, artists and editors pass through. Every month, this tight-knit team reports (and edits) the finest happenings of a few selected divisions.

Stories vary from month to month depending on what's going on. Common articles include: leadership changes, new servers, and events. There are also special articles such as Blaze's "Guns and Grenades" series. The team has always held a strong emphasis on detail. The proof of this can be seen in our articles. But don't take my word for it; check them out for yourself.

The News Team's work is seen by everyone who sees the site. It's impossible to skip past these articles. The front page news is delivered to you by the News Team. These guys and gals cover everything, from Leadership changes to server disruptions. It's all covered on the front page. Don't forget all the Breaking News articles you see. The most important of news is delivered via the front page. For this reason the News Team has to keep good working relations with members of Leadership, and be ready to write up an article at a moment's notice. It's difficult work to say the least, but each and every member is highly dedicated to bringing you the latest news hot off the press. If you don't already do so, be sure to read the front page news. The information might provide insight to a question you have. Keeping up-to-date is always a good idea.

Finally, the balance of the Media Team. Have you ever watched a live feed from a big eGO gaming event? Chances are the Media Team had something to do with it. These guys are also in the podcasting business, live twitching and even video production. They have the skills and talent to create a number of related media projects. The latest venture undertaken by this team was the coverage of the Battlefield Division's zombie event. This exciting event saw developers from DICE come along for the fun; the Media Team was more than happy to do their part.

Three teams full of dedicated individuals who are always on the lookout for aspiring members. Be sure to get in contact with a leadership member of EdgeGamers Media if you're interested in joining our ranks. 'Til next time, from your reporter in the virtual field, game on.

Brains…..zombies….and applications. These were the things on the minds of most of the Personnel Service Center (PSC) members during the Battlefield 4 Zombies event. Even with the occasional website crash (possibly due to the heavy load of zombie attacks), the PSC was still able to carry out its orders and process those apps. They finished up with no applications being mis-processed or needing corrections. They were also a big help in keeping the event attendees entertained and keeping the event running smoothly by answering questions. Even through an apocalypse, the PSC can remain strong and united, completing its job to the best of its abilities.

In other (humanoid) news, the PSC will be making some changes to the New Member Experience, or NME. All persons involved with the NME will be assigned by division instead of at random. This will allow for the NME member and recruit to be able to have more of a connection via the games they play, allowing them to attend similar events. You are probably asking yourself, "Why would I care about this? I am not part of the NME program or PSC." Well, this could affect you! At a future date, the program will be opened up to members of PSC to help. So, if you are interested in helping new members gain traction with the site and eGO, keep your eyes peeled for this update!

Picture yourself armed to the teeth: automatic rifle in hand, handgun in the holster, a line of fragmentation grenades packed, full Kevlar gear and a pine deodorant inside your helmet.

You are running across an abandoned street, wreckage everywhere, it’s a war zone, and you are fighting at it. Alone, your entire squad was contacted by strange enemies and you are still not sure what’s going on, but that trigger finger is getting itchy from the stress.

Turning a corner, you see three tangos a few yards away from you, and since there is nothing else you can do but (a) run like hell or (b) eliminate them, you start looking through that cross-hair as you squeeze the trigger.

Oddly enough, even as your bullets hit their bodies they do not fall, but keep running at you carrying knives and sometimes riot shields. You start becoming desperate, as you empty magazines one after the other, nothing stopping them.

You start running away from them, but it’s too late. They are too close and they are strangely fast and resilient. You feel one of them grabbing your shoulder and turning you towards him, as your stomach is pierced by a razor-edged bayonet. You were taken by them, and everything rapidly goes dark.

There is no respawn, no “wait a few seconds while I go grab a drink.” You start regaining consciousness as you realize all your weapons are gone. Your arms and legs feel strong, fierce; you have a knife that looks sharper than a samurai sword. Your attackers are staring at you closely, silently as though they are telling you to stand up and join the madness, to which you comply, feeling the need to invite someone else to this new family of yours. A family of zombies.

Well, not zombies per se; fast-health-regenerating, good-looking, soldiers running around stabbing everyone!

This month the Battlefield Division held the first Zombie Event sponsored by eGO, DICE and Cooler Master, and the Newsletter team was there to see it all!

This was a heck of a job well done by the BF’s leadership! From hour one, problems appeared in every corner but KILLERCANKILL and his crew were there to uphold eGO’s standards, quickly resolving all issues.

The Zombie Mod was quite simple: You spawn as a human, with a full set of weapons; you must survive the other non-humans who are rampaging to turn your insides out. If they succeed, you join the club. If everyone joins the club, it’s a success for the rabid soldiers; if 80 “zombies” are killed in the process, the lucky survivors win the round.

I gotta tell you, guys, the knife-killing sequences are so neat you just enjoy the moment when your blood-thirsty savage splits another one in half.

There were several pro gamers who attended the game; you can find their profiles here. On each of these gamers' streams, there are over 1,000 viewers! This means that a lot of people knew about the event and were excited enough to watch it live. Success!

Now, not everyone can join at the same time, right? Well, that’s why the Leadership established passwords for invited people only -- though there was one time when one smart dude revealed out loud the password and suddenly 60 people joined the servers at the same time. Hah, we had such a great laugh, well, until the server crashed and then Leadership fixed it after a little while.

My personal favorite is the train wreck area, and I did not like the fact the “humans” could use parachutes to escape complicated situations, but that’s just me.

According to DICE, the next CTE (Community Test Environment) update will be put into motion next September; I hope this means another event like this one. Some sources indicate that this can be expected to become a monthly event.

More information regarding the event is available right now on the BF Division's forums.

Read ya’ later.

Sigma.

There have been many exciting things happening in Day of Defeat since last month.

The Realism Campaign wrapped up recently and was, yet again, a success. We all look forward to the next one (hopefully in a few months).

We’d like to send our sincerest thanks to everyone who helped organize the Realism Campaign and to everyone who participated this year. We also wish to thank the entire TA staff: Chuck, Megs, Boyle, and Dudly for running this campaign. Everyone should understand that without the TA staff's hard work and dedication, there would be no awesome realism campaigns. It requires a lot of personal time to plan and organize.

See the Final Axis Promotions and Medals list here.

Here you can view the Final Medals.

DoD:S Realism War Hero Awards were issued to the following members for their consistent participation in the Day of Defeat Realism Campaigns as well as their ability to act as a leader:

On September 1, the summer-long Bounty Event officially ended. Chuck Norris worked very hard keeping up with thousands of screenshots throughout the entire summer. The event lasted from June 1st (1am EST) to September 1st (1am EST) and to collect a bounty, you had to dominate anyone from the bounty list and post a screenshot of the domination.

Prizes included a $60 Steam game + 1 week Dedicated Supporter code, a $50 Steam game (courtesy of Q-Tip) + 1 week DS Code, a $30 Steam game (courtesy of Nuclear Cowboy) + 1 week DS Code, and a game from the game pool + 1 week DS Code. Special thanks to everyone who donated to the prize pool/game pool for this event.

As you can see for yourself from the Summer Bounty thread, it was a busy one. The winners got some cool stuff and hopefully everyone who participated had a lot of fun.

As for other changes in the DoD Division this past month, Chilidude96 had to head off to college. We wish him the best for his future and thank him for his dedication to eGO and DoD:S. NTK (Formerly known as Jaalexx) took his place leading the recruiting program and has already been working hard restructuring the recruiting threads, giving recruiting classes and, of course, bringing in new recruits. There will still be prizes for monthly recruiting winners as well as for upcoming drives so be sure to participate and help the division grow.

Here’s to another fun and eventful month in DoD:S!
