Why Server Filling Is Important

<div style="width: 550px; text-align: center" align="center">What is your favorite eGO server to play on? What would you do if you suddenly didn't have that server anymore and you had to find someplace else to play? What about when you go to play, only to find the server doesn't have very many players on it at all?

This is the premise behind server filling. We do it because we want to kick-start our servers and get more people playing on them.

I asked =(eGO)= Gerbil this question, as she leads the FFTF (Fast Fill Task Force Server Filling Team) for TF2 Division.

She says, ?Server filling is important because it keeps our servers full and happy and it gives people a chance to be together, from pubs to Community Managers so we can all bond over virtual murder together and make sure we don't lose servers. Quite a relaxing job if I do say so myself.?

Why We Lose Servers?

As you may have seen from your time in EdgeGamers, sometimes a server is taken offline or has its maps changed. If a server remains empty for most of the day, its rank will drop on GameTracker. When this happens consistently for a period of time, leadership will determine whether or not a map change is order or if it?s best to just take the server offline.

If you want to see your favorite servers remain, then take the time to play on them often, invite your friends and help keep them filled.

There?s a simple 4-step process to prevent server loss in any game:

1. Fill ? Help keep your favorite servers full. Don?t just wait for someone else to do it.
2. Seed ? Look for your division guidelines on seeding to see if it?s effective in your game.
3. Recruit ? Invite those pubs on the servers to become members and watch our community grow.
4. Play ? It?s that simple; just come on and enjoy some fun on the servers you like.

Server filling is one of the most important things you can do for our community and it doesn?t require a specific rank, or special skills or abilities. All you have to do is play!

Server Clearers?

The last time I played TF2 on EGYPT one team constantly rolled the other team and that cleared the server and then the last time I played on ITALY the Terrorist rolled the CT's 30-1 and that cleared the servers. We have certain players in our ranks and other players that we allow to play on our servers that will come into the servers and totally roll the other team, eliminate any enjoyment and clear the server. We know who these people are and they seems to take RANK over FILLING. When are we going to address these individuals and maybe ask them to change sides every other match or maybe even just go to a more competitive server with people of their own level of playing? Most of the servers that stay filled are the ones that people are having the most FUN and MORALE is higher and each team is evenly stacked. Maybe some of our TRY HARD MEMBERS should take this under consideration and realize they are just hurting their favorite servers and if they continue they won't have a server to play in...(EDITORIAL)

Wish I could have saved Highschool. Tried all I could, but as an =(e)= at that time, I didn't have much power or recognition.

:D who said we go in pubs ?

Ill definitely try and fill when I have all day free time to play. Wouldn't want someone's favorite server shutting down, makes me sad.

One of the things I love about eGO, is that we dont force people to play in one fashion or another. Yes, I have seen stacked teams in DoD:S make people leave as well. It is part of the game. You get a good team together, communicate well, and win. And I don't think it's fair to that team that has figured out a way to work together to tell them to disband. That is not what eGO is about, Every player, of any skill level, is encouraged to do the best they can, and not be ridiculed or penalized for that.

When this happens, I double my efforts to rally the team. This IS a competitive platform after all... you must rally your troops, soldier! But, sometimes that is not enough. Sometimes, you just have to take your lumps and lose gracefully. I have done that many many times. It sucks, but think about the other team. They are doing things right, and shouldn't be penalized for that.

One thing I have found that if some of the more dominant players are eGO members, more often than not they can be persuaded to come to the losing side to help. If not, dig in, and fight back!

My 2 pennies,
