Got my new build running on Wednesday, but have been troubled by the internet speed being very unstable (varying between 1.2-2mb/s) and often dropping to below 200kb/s.

So far, googling has brought me naught but a complete reinstall of windows as a solution, but figured I'd poke around a bit on the forums here.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Reinstalling network driver does not fix it.

Sounds like a faulty mobo. Have you tried using a different ethernet cable just to verify it's not that?

Cable works on the old mb. But seems like things are good now, been keeping a steady 2.5-3mb/s for a few hours on my BF4 download.

I'm starting to suspect this is something that happens only during the first 20min after booting up..

It could easily be the server you are downloading from that causes the fluctuations in download speeds.

Could be a few different things, as cloaksphered said the server. Try doing a download test at http://www.speedtest.net/ also check your mobo for cold solder and shit solder joints. https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-guide-excellent-soldering/common-problems. Just because a machine made the mobo doesnt mean they dont screw up time to time. Check your ethernet drivers, Also check with your ISP i had comcast screw me outta 20mbs when i upgraded. I also power cycled my router, flushed my dns cache, refreshed my IP and changed out from the onboard ethernet to a card before comeing that conclusion.

Man, I don't know anymore. It's bad in the start and gets more stable a while later, with only minor issues.
But no server issue, multiple downloads from multiple locations. Nor is it the connection into the house or in the house, and I'm getting the 20mbit line I'm paying for. Unless it suddenly drops, but the issue is still only on my pc.

I also tried pinging a website with cmd, which shows that the ping can remain stable for 10-20 seconds @ 25-30ms and suddenly jump to 100ms+ or even 300 for a second or five before returning to normal.

And I've reinstalled the network driver several times without any change.

Also adding an image of a pingtest, just to visualize things

You pinged to a server that is over 400 miles away. No wonder your score is appearing somewhat poor.

Might look a bit weird, yeah. But trust me when I say this, I've never had an issue with previous pingtests to the same server, or any other websites in that area or closer. Usually only get ~50ms when pinging servers around Oslo, but as low as 20 on servers closer to home.

This issue only appeared now after upgrading my rig.

I honestly have nothing more to add and am looking at a fresh install as a last resort now.

*EDIT*

Check this. Same server, only now things are a bit smoother.

I'll update tomorrow if things persist, else I'll close the thread.
