Finally bought DOD:S

Title explains it all. Was wondering if anyone could post some helpful tips or strategies to help a newcomer such as myself.

Congrats on buying DoD.

You should check out events that are held throughout the week usually at 8 PM Eastern. As far as game-play, you'll figure it out soon. Also, Rufio's performance guide is a big help but a tiny bit complicated.

I have a soft spot in my heart for DoD:S. It's my go to whenever CSS starts to lose its amazing shine and I need a filler~

Spray and pray is a little bit harder, imo, because of the recoil

Play the assault class,it has the lowest recoil. Support is good too, lets you carry two grenades.

Like any other FPS shooter, it's a tough nut to crack. If you love challenges I'd go with rifling and the support class, but if it seems too hard at first go in between them with assault.

Thompson + Shift + Left Mouse Button

The assaults & supports are easiest to start out with, then move to the rifles. Remember to crouch (CTRL) when you shoot with the autos.

I doubt I'll hate it. I love games like this, and I love a good challenge. I especially like to actually have to work with a team instead of going lone wolf.

Well, I have seen many former CS players come in and do well with just a little bit of adjustment. It soon will become easy to play, difficult to do as well as you want. Just practice, practice, and then practice a little more.

Never hold still, many people will take you down the moment you are stationary. If you do happen to be a rifleman, pause JUST before you shoot... but not for long. also, dont right click and use the iron sights, it just takes WAY too long. I have an affinity for the sniper rifle, and with some practice one can get really good with it. (I said 'one', not 'me', you jokers!)

I would load our game servers IP's in your favorites, and just look for people to be on. Avalanche is full all day and night, donner and kalt are mostly full in the evening hours, and rotation is hit and miss.

Having done the same thing you have (gone from CSS to DODS), I'd say go with what they mentioned and use the assault/support classes first.

I'm still learning with the Axis rifle (K98), but otherwise you get use to the weapons pretty smoothly (particularly with the support classes..MG as well if you plan to Rambo, or use it without setting up, but that takes a bit more practice)

I'd say this game is easy to learn for FPS vets, but one of the hardest to master...it's extremely fast and you can die in an instant. It's ridiculously fun
