I've had this Logitech USB table mic (don't worry, I used headphones with it) for a while now, and it's always worked fine in Vent, where I can adjust the volume no problem. Now that I've been playing TF2, I've discovered that to adjust the volume in any other way seems... impossible. The volume slider in game does nothing, and I've tried every single volume slider in the WinXP sound settings, none of which seem to affect it. Mic boost does nothing, either.
For recording devices I have the option of chosing my sound card (SB X-Fi audio), the mic device itself (AK5370), or the onboard audio device (Realtek HD Audio/Digital input). I doubt the onboard affects anything, since I have the SB card in there, and the mic doesn't usually seem to work when I use the SB X-Fi audio device, so I've gone with the AK5370. The only volume slider for this device is "Wave in", which doesn't seem to affect the volume at all.
The funny thing is, I've read reviews for this mic and everyone else seems to be able to adjust its volume. So do you think I'm missing something? I wouldn't put it past me to get confused with all these devices and volume sliders, as audio has never really been my area.
EDIT: I should note that I've tried plugging the mic into different USB ports, which does seem to change the volume slightly, but still doesn't make it adjustable.
