Respect

This isn't just a problem isolated to the DOD:s division, it's all the divisions. Don't deny it, it exists.

There have been numerous occasions where I've had to talk to people in regards to their comments to me, and they understand and apologise about the matter.

All I can really say, is suck it up, and deal with it in a mature fashion. Rather than making a song and dance on the forums- talk to the person(s) at hand directly- and not drag the whole community into a matter which involves a few people.

Regular members are aware of the rules, and constant pounding of them every, single, time, just gets annoying, and to an extent loses meaning.

Deal with it directly- not getting everyone involved, we know the rules.
To be fair, Nicoll, I think you may have missed the few occurrences this week that led to these posts. These occurrences have been talked about and dealt with, but the ongoing trend seems to be a degradation in respect, going "upwards" and "downwards" in such a fashion that dealing with each instance isn't going to accomplish anything.

I was much more upset last night and needed to vent. I think this helped. Maybe it will show more people that it isn't just a few ticked off people who are being too sensitive. It really is a problem.

I completely disagree with your view that this behaviour should be tolerated or "suck it up" in your words. Every one (if not the majority) of these problems has been addressed in a mature fashion and handled with discretion. It seems people still aren't getting the message, which is why this thread had to be created by Super in the first place. Each member has been addressed directly when these problems have occurred and as for your "song and dance" claim on the forums, people are tired of this behaviour and actually want to make all members aware to stop this behaviour.

Most of our members do know our rules to the T, but it seems some of our regular members have forgotten or just don't care about the rules. Clearly something that some people need to revisit.

Noting the date the first thread was made, this is obviously a issue that's been happening for far too long. The threads linked above pretty much say the exact same thing I'll say here:

Events are there to have fun and enjoy the game..but it's hard to do that if people aren't following the rules of the events or doing some sort of action that might interfere with hearing what the rules are.

Yea there might be some confusion but if the confusion is cleared up and it's still happening..you're not only making the events 'not worth other peoples' time', in a matter of speaking, but you're being rather disrespectful to those that put time and effort into them and to those that do enjoy them.

We're not forcing you to participate in the events, so you don't have to come if you don't want to, although you are more then welcome to participate. But we are enforcing that you uphold the rules of the event(s) while you are there, as well as the Code of Conduct so that the event can be an enjoyable and fun experience.
----

Adding on - If you're going to talk about someone behind their back, then you might as well just be talking to yourself because that goes down the same exact road. The same with openly being disrespectful, albeit possibly worse. If you have an issue with someone, work it out or if you can't then let a member of leadership know.

If I recall correctly, and I may well be mistaken, but when I first moved from CS to DODS a couple years ago or so, this wasn't an issue, or at the very least wasn't that big of one. Nothing has really changed since then aside from eGO getting bigger and having new members, so I don't see why this issue is happening at all, particularly after having several different threads and words of wisdom on the forums/Teamspeak.

TL;DR - Treat others the way you want to be treated. If you've been told to stop doing something - Stop and don't do it again.

Be mature and respect others.

I understand, Nicoll, you dont like to see and hear things more than once. I get it, you have said it. Repeatedly.

However, this DOES need to be mentioned. It NEEDS to be rehashed. Some just aren't getting it.

And, my friend, sorry to say, these 'song and dance' threads will continue until we all get on the same page. Firehazard is right. This wasnt a problem 2 years ago. I dont know why it has been, but it needs to stop, and it starts with warning specific people, warnings about certain conversations or instances of disrespect. If these warnings are not heeded, steps will need to be taken, as a last resort.

Please, for the last time- If you are warned to drop a subject or not talk about certain things, dont argue, and dont keep doing it. Just change the subject and move on. If it is truly something you wish to speak about, then do it privately through steam with whoever you are trying to converse with.

It's a simple matter of respect. These threads are made for a reason, and not lightly. If you do not care to hear about it again, simply dont read it, but the message needs to get out there.

I acc apologise for my previous post, didn't realise this was as serious as it's sounding now.

+1 Tip

I like the fact you've used both sarcasm and irony to get to me about the 'repetitiveness' of some things I've said- I like that.

And to be fair, yeah, I understand where you guys are coming from, and guess it should be a issue that is adressed- Why not suggest it in the next upcoming clanwide meeting? So everyone listens in, and to an extent, knows the severity of the situation.

At least it'll cut down on all the rubbish us regular members have to contend with- listening to the unecessary banter and commentary from the leadership in the meetings- before actually getting to the news and issues at hand. Have I said that enough? :P

In all seriousness, I understand, and apologise for any unnecessary commentary.

I would also like to point out the fact that most of the people here have lives outside the internet. We have our lives where we work/study/do whatever we do out there but come here, to eGO for sort of venting. At least for me, I try to come and relax (as much as it is possible while getting insta headshotted by tommyguns all the time) in TS and to spend time with my friends and play together.

There are some days when I'm really cranky and angry and you'll probably notice it on those days, but the fact that you are having a bad day/week doesn't give you the excuse of being an ass towards others. When I'm really pissed and mad, I try to go by a personal rule: if you are having a really bad day, stay away from TS.

Now this does not mean that I say you should follow it, I'm just saying that I do it and it works because there are some days if you'd put me in a room with someone I hate I would literally jump them right then and there or say what I really thought of them.

What I'm going for with all this is that we all have our issues with RL and it does effect the way you behave so before you get on TS, take a second and think;am I in the state of mind to abide by eGO rules today?

After tonights' event, I feel the need to bump this up so that it gets some more attention..

If you aren't going to follow the rules of the events, then as harsh is it may sound - don't come to the event. It gets aggravating having to repeatedly say not to do something or to do something a specific way as per the event rules. If you have 5 people, if not more, telling you to not do something..then STOP DOING IT. Having one person tell you should be enough..any further and it's just blatant disrespect.

You're making the event non-enjoyable, being disrespectful to not only those that host the event and put time and effort into them, but also to those that are telling you to stop doing something yet you do it anyways..Not to mention making yourself look bad.
