Payday 2 Crimefest

OVERKILL Software has declared that Payday 2: Crimefest will be celebrated on October 18 for ten days for the third anniversary of the PAYDAY franchise. The Payday 2 Steam group reached its target of 1.5 million members recently. Also, Payday the Heist will be free on Steam for twenty-four hours starting today, so make sure to grab your own copy while you have the chance.

It's hard to believe that this game is over a year old, I still remember trying (and failing) to rob banks for hours on end.

I don't really see the point in downloading several gigabytes of data to just play the game for a couple days. it's either buy or don't buy for me.

It comes in handy however if the game is one you're interested in but doesn't have a demo of any kind. I know I'd played Killing Floor back a couple years ago in a December free weekend and wasn't really jumping for joy, but I tried it again yesterday for a bit and still didn't really get a good feel for it. Think it primarily has to do with the speed of the gameplay, just feels slow without some kind of sprint function...

And then I tried out Injustice:GAU and got frustrated as all hell with that game's story mode. Seriously, what kind of nut thinks switching between nearly all playable 'good' superhero characters is a great idea for a story mode? I'd get used to Batman's move set, and suddenly I'm Green Lantern... And then Green Arrow. And later on Batman again... And the 'mirror' matches are, at times, absolutely mind boggling to keep track of which character is yours thanks to how similar some of their costumes are.

Anyway, Back on Payday business. Crimefest is going to start tomorrow with seven days of patches implementing various goodies for us, including the breakout of our old friend Old Hoxton.
