sound simple enough?

remember "man with the golden gun" mode on golden eye for Nintendo 64? it couldn't be difficult to figure out a server side mod/script for one portal gun allowed in game, the wielder being "it," receiving points for time with the gun, or maybe allow regular weapons and allow the gun to second as a multiplier for regular hits for an added bonus?

im wondering what other tf2 based games you could organize using garrys mod or the likes.

tf2 football anyone?

Anyone even mildly respectable with a Portal Gun (especially those experienced at doing time trials) would be hard pressed to actually die, since it's easy to be crafty and dodgy when you can willingly drop through the very floor at your feet. It would make it too easy for people to use ridiculous exploits as well. Also, TF2 doesn't possess Portal's complicated physics algorithms, and there's no way a Portal Gun will function properly without them. I hope you don't expect the admins to write a mod which can mimic the physics engine; keep in mind that the guys who wrote this are some of the best game programmers in the country.

I've used the portal gun in HL2, Episode 1, and Episode 2. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work in TF2 as well with a bit of work. It would be entirely impossible to kill someone that had it though. Can you imagine a scout with a portal gun?

They all run off the HL2 Engine so it should work and yeah I can see it now, scout jumps up and shoots a portal under the enemy, and he re-appears surrounded by a dozen sentries...

You can get it to work with HL2*, but it doesn't work well, and it allows you to go virtually anywhere, including outside the bounds of the map. You can get stuck in the floor, etc.

Unless Valve helps out, there's no way that the portal gun is going to function *correctly* in any game but portal.

Hahahahahh....

that would be a good Tf2 video

the physics in portal and hl2 and tf2 should all be the same. why would you have different "realistic" physics in different games, if they're all simulating the same thing.

either way, football anyone?
