All things are temporary, and we are playing a 7 year old video game that has continued to please. We should feel happy about that, not mourn the loss of a small part of it.
I personally have no interest in finding a new server to call home. They've all really just melted into one big server that I lack interest in.
tl;dr - i aint happy bout nothin, egypt is life, egypt will always be life.
Egypt was more than a small part of TF2 for those of us who called it home. It was a server in which gameplay was intense at full server capacity, and playful when less populated. We played against and with players we'd gotten so used to playing with that when they weren't on, TF2 was not as fun. I and some others would join Valve servers running Egypt when the eGO server was empty.
The map itself is unique. The map was created by a player much like us. Even the textures were custom-made. It doesn't take an artist to tell that Egypt is very detailed, containing cosmetic features, strategic bottlenecks and other gameplay-changing structures.
More important than anything, Egypt formed friendships. Regulars are infamous for even playing other games together while chatting through a TF2 teamspeak room. A lot of us that played on Egypt joined eGO because of it. I, for one stayed longer than intended because of Egypt.

I have had some of my least enjoyable TF2 moments on this map as well. Getting rolled round after round is not fun and will leave a bad taste for a map too.
^This guy. Stop overreacting people, it's not like we're definitely losing Egypt forever.I dunno, last year when we changed Egypt to Helltower it shot up in ranks. After we changed it back, the ranks remained so it stayed filled longer.
I feel like this is a good thing for Egypt, if you can put up with it for 3 weeks or so.

That would depend on everyone's opinion of an "equal or better map".If egypt is gone for good... I just hope we get an equal or better map to replace it.
