This is a known issue people have been complaining about to Valve for quite some time. It happens to me as well at random and often after a big update. It keeps happening to me in CS and TF2 but my other games are fine. This is one reason I have all of the TF2 server IPs listed
on my Steam profile.
Some fixes that have worked for people:
- Deleting steam/config/serverbrowser.vdf and masterserver2.vdf
- Validate your Steam files
- Delete and reinstall Steam entirely
As a side note, this problem seems to be made worse if you favorite the servers from in-game, versus the Steam browser. If you've favorited servers in-game and they disappear when you reload the game, here is the fix:
Load the game
-Go to the Find Servers option
-Switch to the Favorites tab
-Go to the Change filters button (if this option is not available, please ensure the "Show Map List" option is unchecked first)
-Select "Secure" from the Anti-Cheat drop-down menu
-Exit and then reload the game
-Go to the Find Servers option
-Switch to the Favorites tab
-Click the "Refresh" button
If you could see servers through View > servers before ? you should be able to see them in the game as before.
If this method does not work at once, delete file serverbrowser.vdf and repeat the recommended troubleshooting steps outlined above once more (by default, this file may be found at C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\config\ - otherwise, find the Steam directory you specified when installing Steam).
