I dont remember who it was saying that the 9600 would be faster than todays 8800gt but they were wrong and I was right lol.

It is close between the two cards but the 8800gt they compared was reference and not overclocked compared to the slightly factory overclocked 9600. However, it does look good for the 9800x2 being a strong card with these results.

Looks very insteresting, I want to upgrade my current 8800 gts 320 g80 to a better video card but I chosed to wait for the new generation of nvidia.

The 9600GT is supposed to have extremely similar benchmarks to the 8800GT but priced at a mere 199 USD. That ridicululous. I paid 374.99 for my 8800GTS 512 G92 and its gonna be 250 in the next couple of months :(

"stuff works"

i paid 240 a piece for my 8800gt's which i then flashed to evga SSC speeds and i havent looked back yet... no complaints here.

who makes your 8800gt?

I'm usign BFG ones...used riva tuner to get em over ssc speeds....

one is OEM nvidia, the other is an XFX alpha dogg. I flashed them to the EVGA SSC bios for the auto fan speedup with heat feature lacking in other bios revisions.

Card isnt a waste.... Its a great deal right now @ 179.99 w. most e-tailers. The card has only 64 shaders vs 112 that the 8800GT does but performs very closely. So its an absolutely great buy right now... no better deal out there.

I see where you may be going with that statement though... as far as the 9800's are concerned I'm sure they'll be very fast considering they'll probably have double the shaders of the 9600 so their bound to be extremely fast. Most likely 60 - 80% faster than the current 8800's.. maybe even double the speed, we'll wait and see.
