Lately I have been getting the urge to pickup bf4 and really making an attempt to like it as much as I do bfbc2. I can't speak for everyone else, but I've spent 3 hrs on bf3 and just couldn't get into it, the maps just didn't look right, and I can't really put a point on it but it just seemed off to me. Unfortunately bfbc2 is getting pretty dated, and I f totally feel like I'm missing out. Anyone else?

BF3 didn't appeal to me even though I did buy it, but since I've started playing BF4, I've gone back to BFBC2 only a few times. I like the graphics and the variety of maps along with some modern setups. Just took getting used to change. Most human beings don't take change very well. The aliens we have here at eGO........no problem. I might even be one!

I really like BF2's simple interface...no "Press and Hold E to - " type of commands...so that's probably why I didn't like the changes in BF3 - which I bought when it was still expensive. I probably didn't give it enough of a chance to grow on me, but the reviews I've heard didn't exactly give me the motivation to keep trying either. That it went Play for Free only confirms that it sucks. lol.

I'll need a new system before I try BF4 as well, though I am curious about it.

IF you are really interested base BF4 is currently on origin right now for 20.99.

My thoughts on BF4

Plays a lot like CoD. Silly amounts of spray and pray.
Various weapons and vehicles that actually shouldn't be in the game as they ruin game play, but they are there to stay. You play it you're going to have to put up with them.
Bigger servers means more hectic game play.
MANY guns. Lots of devices. Some cool stuff in there.
Each map usually has something in the environment that changes (usually by destruction)

Its got some ups and downs sure, but I'd say its probably worth 21 bucks imo.

crap

I loathe cod, not a fan of spray and pray either, I think one of the best games ive played...ever was the desert combat add on for the original series, I think developers push the envelope too far when it comes to "who puts the coolest shit weapons and devices" in a game, maybe because at my core I have always been a SIM fan but minus the tediousnes and large learning curves they May require, there's something about mastering something truly difficult that's cool, especially meeting the dojo master online and being shown how truly crap you really are. Ka50 blackshark was one of those games btw. Anyways I think I'll stay, if bf4 has truly leaned towards the cartoony ,noscope, jump, "wtf just killed just killed me" COD dark side then no thanks.

Get the base game and try it out. That gets you easy play time on 4 of the servers. If you like it enough then get the extra DLC package. Its fun and worth a shot

Yo.

I haven't purchased BF4. I have BF3, but it is very difficult to play coming from bfbc2. They reworked the programming of player movement. Two words: IT SUCKS. Why they didn't just adapt the bfbc2 code to BF3 I'll never know. And the clunky browser-based game entry? Terrible. The contrast is terrible in-game making everything very unnatural looking. The new gadgets are cool, and I do like the helicopters, but I don't care for the planes. Ceiling is too low, and good pilots dominate the maps. In short, the game was redesigned with noobs in mind, trying to please everyone and make everything 'fair.' I don't care about 'fair.' I like to win, which is apparently a bad word these days in some circles. And that is why I like BC2. In BC2 they still have real achievements. Magnum ammo is a perfect example. The higher level players have better gear, which is appropriate. And most have more experience and are better players. The only thing I wish Dice had done is make the Recon class unavailable until level 30 or 40. That would have made the gameplay so much more fun. ...nuff ranting. Peace.

Yeah, I feel like I'm missing out on bf4, but my machine is a bit old (a couple years now) with good quality components....

What are the requirements for bf4?

Refer to one or both of these links:

Also, another thread on the eGO forums that might help with this (Papa was asking a similar question, and a number of us posted the specs we have): http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273600

Ugh $20? How long will it remain that low? I'm still fond of BC2 but I do feel like I'm missing out big time with BF4. Always so many people playing....

Edit: Looks like I'm too late. Lowest I can find is 29 and change

"Battlefield 4 is now free to play for a massive 168 hours with Origin Game Time. Experience the intensity that made this series a classic. Your squad is waiting."

Sounds like your time is now.

I have an old PC and the downloads program indicates that it's best suited for BC2 so I think I'll keep punching my way up to level 50 in that platform.

I hate the sight of blood.

Ya when I tried bf3, I got totally turned off 2 by the contrast "unnatural" was a great way to put it, preach brother!

Well after a few hours I'd say BF4 looks like a highly polished, what BF3 should've been like... not bad. Thanks for the heads up. Wish it let u try the expansions too heheh
