New tf2 art thread and I got some Ideas for some new pics

I'm not a Photoshop whiz by any means, so feel free to disregard this entirely if you want, but I hope you can take some constructive criticism. A lot of your cutouts are very jagged and don't blend in very well. I'd work on smoothing those out and maybe not throwing so much all together. Some of that stuff is really busy and honestly quite cheesy looking. For instance, the eGO background one. The main center logo is faded and is overshadowed by the prominent random flame things. Some of the game cutouts are smoothed and some are clean cut. Again, it's just very busy and doesn't look very clean.

I'm just one person, and if everyone likes it, then whatever. I think you have potential to be good at the program if you just keep refining your methods and learning from others who are good with PS. Try practicing different things and check out the thousands of PS tutorials online.

Good criticism indeed ^_^ I've taken Chronic under my wing as my photoshop apprentice. A little background info too, he's currently using Photoshop 7.0, which is a VERY old version of it. He's been doing a lot better since I've been teaching him some tricks.

Ill admit one of the reasons why they seem jagged was because I hand erased it. so I had to carefully cut out the image by hand still had not figured out how to cut out yet. and I agree with shark since I joined him he taught me a few new tricks lol.the latest 2 where some tricks I picked up from shark. and ty for the info gotta figure away to make a clean cut. but Ill be a master of the 7.0 PS in no time at all

here ya go shark my newest and improved spray with invisable background. this is like doing the moon landing for me cause it is so awesome and I always wanted to make some invisable background pics

The first trick you should teach him is to stop using a version of Photoshop which is over a decade old.

Yea, we all have an extra $200 laying around to buy new software.

btw I figured out that it would cost $600 to get the latest update. I once heard an intresting point. a hammer is a hammer no matter how old or new it still functions as a hammer. on a side note I made a new spray I got my inspiration while playing egypt to night enjoy the pic.

This is actually pretty cool :)

Shouldn't this be moved to the art sub-forums though?

That's why subscriptions are offered, as I previously stated. Also, that point doesn't really apply here. You're comparing the slow lane to the fast lane.

By all means, keep using Photoshop 7 if something like a lacks of funds is holding you back. However, my advice to anyone is to invest into something they like doing.

Lol I'm sorry if I snapped at ya lol. Or of it seemed like it. It is good advice and shark already suggested it would be beneficial. Lol. Hmm I just need to get a taste of how a modern PhotoShop runs. Bit before I think of doing that. I am thinking of making a whole new PC to play some of the newer games. And to the other comment reason why its here was cause Its first off semi tf2 related and second felt semi alone and over looked in there. First thread I made out of 300 and so peeps only one comment lol. I still go there I made an ego PC background. But it does not sound to bad to post em there too. Just I like showing "team" spirit lol. I will however put a spray and avatar request form for who wants one. But ill still post tf2 posters and backgrounds here.

I think you should use whatever you feel like to learn. Just because it might not be what everyone else uses doesn't mean you need to feel bad for using it. I get paid a lot of money to do graphic art and I started out using old versions of Photoshop. Much of my art in the beginning looked a lot like yours. There's nothing wrong with it at all. Keep up the good work.
