Currently, I am Steam Level 24, and am aiming for Steam Level 30.

I think Steam Levels are a good way to show that your profile is legit.

Most Of The Time if your profile is private, low leveled or not set up, they'll think you're just using an Alt to do naughty things.

Your opinions/levels?

Currently level 19, near 20.

I like the bonuses it gives (IE bigger friends list), otherwise it's just kinda...there..?

I never really understood steam levels. I recently came back about a month or two and I don't get what the point of the steam level is o.0 would anyone mind explaining?

Refer to this: http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/faq and/or https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4395-TUZC-9912

In short - The majority of the 'steam level update' is cosmetics/showcasing more stuff on your Steam Profile, aside from being able to add more people to your friends list.

In the first place, I don't really understand them but I kind of do understand now. I don't really care much about levels but it's quite interesting...

I would have to agree with you shini, I don't really care for the level. Is it more for like bragging rights lol?

I tend to like them a bit since it makes it an awful lot easier to see if someone's nothing more than a smurf account deigned to troll everyone just for the lulz. How often have you looked at comments on patch notes for your favorite game just to see idiots jammering on about "ZOMG GAME BROKEN BRO!!!!" or whatever such nonsense, just to mouse over their avatar and notice it's a level 0 (and to boot their profile is private)?

Obvious troll is obvious. XD

I don't care about that stuff, the only thing about steam i care about is my games and the games that go on sale.

Mostly I don't notice it until I see someone at level 100+

Then I'm like HOLY MOLEY!!!!

Im forever 21 hehe.

also if i dont know ppl anything under a rank 3 i deny.

I think I remember when these came out, but I never bothered with them,

(My profile is private BTW).

Checking now...

I am level 4.

Something tells me I need to use this more than just chatting with friends. I've fallen off the Steam wagon quite a bit. :(

When I came back to the gaming community three weeks ago, I didn't realize that there was such a thing as a Steam Level system until I noticed it on people's profiles. Honestly, I don't care too much for it. Most of the time I even forget I have a Steam Level.

I've had my steam account for 7 years. I don't get the point of steam levels or understand what they have to do with anything, even with the explanations. And yes I am someone that keeps my profile private, because if you don't know me you don't need to see it. That's just how I am. Old and crotchety lol.

I use the Steam level a lot for various things. The primary reason I use them is because of item trading. I get a ton of trade offers off of CS:GO. 3/4 of them are legit, the other 1/4 is from spambots. The biggest clue that it's a spambot is their steam level. Generally Lv 0-5 are spambots. I don't even bother checking at their profiles. That being said, the higher steam lv a person is, the greater the interest I want to check them out as potential trading partners. Another reason is to see whether the person is a smurf or not. A third reason is to see how long they have been using steam. More games/ higher levels generally means they have definitely been at Steam for a while. But yea, overall I use Steam Levels pretty normally.
