New computer monitor

Ive been checking out deals on 21.5" monitors. I have a monitor thats bout the same size & feel that its time to upgrade my monitor (seeing as how ive had it for 7 years now). Dont worry, my current monitor is an lcd monitor, but feel that its time for a much needed upgrade. This is where you, the experts come in.

I need to know, should I go for HP or Acer monitors? Maybe I should get a different brand monitor? Please feel free to share your experience on monitors. I am hoping to get a monitor for around $100 (saw an HP last week for $90, but life has been super crazy lately). Anyways, im all eyes here.

Ok wanted to give a little update: Best Buy has a really good deal going on computer monitors (which surprised me). Of course I got my current monitor from Best Buy 7 years ago, so its good that theyre putting monitors on sale again. So they have a Dell 24" monitor & an LG 21.5" monitor on sale for $100. The good news that they both qualify for free shipping, so my question is which monitor should I go after?

You know you're dealing with Best Buy when it doesn't even give proper specs. Looked at the Dell monitor, and you can see the DVI connection, but it doesn't even bother listing it under specs.Of the two, I'd go with the Dell for the larger screen. There's nothing that the LG can offer that would top the Dell. Just beware that the Hr in its model (E2414Hr) means that it does not come with a DVI cable, only a VGA one.

What's the accepted ms response time for gaming monitors?

I've always looked for ones that are like 2ms....

So after reviewing prices for monitors that have the 2ms response time as well as a video discuss the difference between 2ms & 5ms, overall, im not really too worried about it seeing as how im not big on fps games as much anymore. Now if I was huge into COD/BF series, then yes it would make a good size difference based on the old school monitor that I currently have now. However, all I really play online wise is Trackmania/Borderlands/Payday, so im not looking for something all bada$$.

Maybe in the future when I have my career set & im banking like crazy, then I will consider it. That's the reason why I set the price at where its at right now (mainly because its Black Friday).

Would agree with this, BenQ has really good monitors, but unfortunately, way out of your budget. I think the ASUS one you've found should be pretty decent.

i use Acer monitors (have 4 of them) they always been good for me. I also have acer laptop its been good too

2ms or 1ms is what would be ideal. If you cant find a cheap one in that speed then dont bother. Most people cant even tell the difference.

I picked up a 24'' LCD 1920x1080p full HD monitor with a 2ms response time from best buy for $99 about 2-3 months before any sales were happening. They had a mix up on their pricing on the floor vs their website.
