Event
Greetings CS Division!
Have you ever wondered what the Tech Team does while we hide away at the bottom of TS? Well this weekend you get a chance to see for yourself! Join us this Saturday to see how crazy things get when everything changes and everything stays the same!
When: Saturday, Dec 6th, 9 PM EST / 6PM EST
Where: CS:S Events server (174.36.42.207) AND CS:GO Events server (184.173.227.124)
Why: Because we're testing new things
What: A bantastic new event in which you get to admin your fellow members for no apparent reason!
You've been to events where they turn the gravity off. You've been to events where you get to destroy leadership and get awards for it. You've been to events where you got so excited you pushed your mouse button through your desk. But you've never been to an event quite like this one before.
While you guys have been having a blast blowing each other away with an assortment of virtual weaponry, the Tech Team has been hard at work on MAUL 2, the successor to the current MAUL system. Since everything has been rebuilt from the ground up, we want you guys to test it, but we want you to have fun while you're at it.
Now, before you get too excited, let me lay down some ground rules (or lack thereof)
- Use of admin commands is allowed and encouraged. In general, you should attempt to use both commands that you normally have access to and commands that you don't normally have access to. If you don't know any commands other than the ones you have access to, that's OK. Just use what you know
God chat and banning should be done with restraint. Every time you ban someone, you MUST notify a leadership member who is present so that leadership member can unban whoever you just caked and let them back in to the server
- The eGO Code of Conduct must be followed at all times, though a special exception MAY be made allowing =(e)= members to temporarily impersonate admins during the event
- If either server becomes full during the course of the event, we will put out an announcement indicating that kick and ban commands should not be used until the end of the event (unless the server empties out). This is to prevent people who are having fun from having to prematurely leave the event. Anyone violating this rule will be subject to a ban from both event servers for the remainder of the event
- If the aforementioned announcement has been made, a leadership member at the event may still direct you to kick or ban someone. If they do, you may safely kick or ban the specified player without risk of being banned for the duration of the event
- All bans enacted during this event will have absolutely no effect on the record of either the banning admin or the banned player once the event is over. They will also have no effect on any eGO servers other than the two CS event servers even during the event (aka if you get banned during the event and the server is too full to rejoin, you will be able to play on other eGO servers even before leadership gets around to unbanning you)
- If not enough admins come to the event, temporary admin access MAY be given to randomly selected =(e)=s for the duration of the event. If access is given in this manner, you should remove your =(e)= tag before re-joining the server as MAUL 2 will automatically assign your proper tag while in the server (and we wouldn't want CS Leadership wondering why we promoted you to an eG without their permission)
- All eGO members and pubs are welcome
There are some special steps to go through before joining the event. This post has been updated with these steps
Steps to follow before joining the event (you may do these at any time before the event)
- Go to MAUL 2
- Log in with your forum credentials
- Click the "Edit Game IDs" button
- Under the section labeled "ID for Source", you should see either a greyed out input field with a green border or a green "Sign in though Steam" button
- If you see the input field with the green border, press the Cancel button at the bottom of the page and go to step 7
- Otherwise, click the Sign in through Steam button, and log in to your steam account. When you arrive back in MAUL, press the Save Changes button
- If your Primary Group does not match your forum rank (e, eG, eGO, Advisor, etc), contact oey192 or GamingRobot32 to fix this before joining the event.
All =(e)=s will need to do this - If you encounter any problems, contact oey192 or GamingRobot32
Also, in case you're wondering, we don't have time to make holding special events a habit. This event is not likely to return, even if there is popular demand
Disclaimer: The Tech Team makes no guarantee that either server will remain operational for the entire duration of the event. Should either server crash during the event, we will make every effort to get it back online as soon as possible, but we can not make any promises
