New recruit issue

For the past couple of weeks i have noticed that plenty of our new eGO recruits have been using inappropriate language on the servers. I have warmed them but most of them think its ok to use it. Most of them dont even know the rules of eGO. This issue has been bothering me and i just wanted to inform you all so you can be aware.

If that's the case then this is an issue. I ask everyone who is recruiting folk to not only point them in the direction of applications and so on but to also link them to the rules page and remind all new recruits that they are held to a higher standard than any public players. As recruiters we should already be taking care of our new members by helping them with everything as they join, showing them the necessary sections, making sure they understand how eGO works and what is expected of them.

I brought the same problem to leadership. Like stalin said, its really up to the Recruiter to guide them through the rules i guess.

This is also why the Recruiting Team is stressing quality over quanity for this competition. We want members who have a chance at becoming people we like, and admins. Not people like [redacted].

I have noticed this some, more so in Avalanche. One I had to kick for language, another I had to kick for constant hackusations. I dont think they are new though, they have been around for a while. Which means that they were recruited back in the 'Anyone want to join eGO?' days. If you notice, no need to be a jerk, but remind them, and as Nicoll said, w/k/b as necessary. If any G's or O's do it, please notify leadership

Yes, this happens a lot, and it's not only in Day of Defeat, it's in every division to be honest. Yes, it could be just the recruiter not explaining the rules to a recruit, or it's because recruiters are trying to recruit pubs that joined the server for a minute.

Perhaps recruiters could ask the regular eGO members in the server who they think would make great e's? There are always those admins who are constantly in the server and know all the regulars and all the bad apples. Just something to think about while recruiting maybe!

I think some of it is life in General, Yes though you explain to them the rules and if they want to follow them they will if not then well that's just how it goes. You have people who just do not care , then those who follow along , and you got those who are willing to follow with direction, and then you got people who care

I have played in other divisions but was told they are more lenient about the rules especially CS division I have been told several times that it is ok so I think we need to get a clear set for all divisions.
