Tech Help Steam favorites are gone

Greetings!

Well, the title about sums it up, but ever since some weeks ago I've had an issue where my Steam server-favorites list will just disappear, and I'd have to re-add the servers to it.

It just happened yet again today, and quite frankly I'm kind of annoyed by it.

I remember looking the issue up sometime ago and saw mentions of a file I think was serverbrowser.vdf and install a new one or something of the sort..

My question, though, is where am I suppose to get a new file (and get it safely and not run into a virus or something) that I never deleted yet it somehow vanished..(and nobody else uses this computer)

Virus

Just make sure you don't have a virus or something like that because it could be the cause of this problem. I would install an antivirus like Norton. Although it costs money, it's worth it. Just keep trying to add your favorites and maybe the problem will just go away.

I have Norton, although the problem happened shortly before I switched to it from Mcafee - both of which haven't detected any viruses, either. And I know it wasn't deleted by either, as well, since it didn't show a pop up or in the history.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I contacted Steam Support about it, and after suggesting I do something I already told them I did, they said they would look into it..Not sure what's going to happen but it's happened twice now since they said that.

Well i wouldn't count on Steam support being able to help out very well, because they no as much as a rock. But i really hope they do well for you. Anyways, just hope the problem just goes away. That's as much as i can say.

The first one, yes (Funny enough, it's also the one Steam Support told me to do when I had already told them I did)

The other, no I have not but I'll give it a try should my favorites/history vanish again.
