Windows XP SP3?

SP3? Didn't even know that existed!

I looked over the white pages, and it seems they just added a few technical details here and there.

I wonder if it will have some of the same problems some people had when installing SP2.

Microsoft (I think) is careful about phasing out XP because corporate America is very slow to adopt Vista. It's too drastic of a change for most IT managers to handle, plus most companies can't shell out the bucks to buy new computers right now. That's probably why we'll see more SPs for XP than normal.

Xp SP3 was just all the recent patches that Microsoft has released in the last year or so i believe.

I have installed Xp SP3 and i did notice a little speed increase
I also installed vista SP1 and i did notice a BIG speed increase and they fixt the Disk Defragmenter

Besides bundling all the recent hotfixes, XP sp3 mostly introduces the Network Access Protection, which is a module intended just to control access by unauthorized pc's on a large 'enterprise-size' network. I got a buddy's pc I've been fixing up, so I've had a chance to test out the current 'sp3 rc2 refresh' version versus an updated sp2 install (both slipstreamed, clean installs), and really couldn't find any difference either way. My advice, wait until it installs via Windows Update, and if not don't worry about it...

As far as Vista goes, sp1 is great -- takes care of most of those annoying lags when moving through menus or accessing network resources.
