Account scam warning

One of our members just received the following message:

AUTOMATED_MESSAGING_SYSTEM: Automated Message: Hello, we have identified two or more IP's logging on to this account. This may be due to a hacker. In order to verify your account information, we will need you to send your Steam username and password to our secure inbox at *****************************. If you do not verify your account within 24-hours, your account and Steam service will be terminated. Thank you for your co-operation. The automated messaging system will now go offline.

This is obviously a scam. These people will rip out your account from under you if you send them this information. No one from Valve or eGO will ever ask you to send your username or password to them. If you ever see anything like this, ignore it or you will lose your account.

Don't accept his invite, as he will repeatedly send you the same message every two minutes.

Good info--you never want to reply to any e-mail that demands your password. Steam has that...

these type of scams have been around forever

On any chat window you open in Steam it says, "Never tell your password to anyone". Like GTI said, they HAVE your information backed up...SEVERAL times. Nobody working for the company will ask you for your password...period. Keep up the good work, guys!

I see it too, I checked the Request Ban and Contest Ban forums and he wasn't in there. What happened Steve?

Also, this guy "Automatic Messaging System" has Freeflow on his friends list. Freeflow, you may possibly want to remove him.

Usually these guys really suck at what they do, though, making huge errors that automatic messaging systems wouldn't do (such as reply). Watch out, though, wouldn't want to lose your accounts.
