Now the real question is, did Overwatch rip off TF2's grappling hooks while they were still in development? Did the TF2 team rip off Overwatch's grappling hooks in less than a month? Did they both invent them at the same time, prompting the next Newton/Leibniz debate? The world may never know.

Neither of these. The original TF game (Team Fortress Classic) had grappling hooks. Valve is just finally adding them to the sequel. This video demonstrates it pretty well.
