Why I'm thankful for eGO this year

As some of you know, I was a member in 2008, and I around the same time I went through some very rough times. It was the beginning of the failing of a relationship, I was struggling through high school, and more importantly I was becoming more and more isolated by the day. By the time I graduated in 2011 I found myself in almost complete isolation. Once I hit college it got better and I started hanging out with a few people, but I was nowhere near my "prime" (and to be honest, I'm still not as I'm only just now hitting the half way mark of 21 going on 22). I found myself hanging out with a lot of people, both good and bad, and found myself in a lot of trouble.

I went through four girlfriends and every last one except for the last ended horribly. The last one? Ended up becoming my fiancee (More on that later). I ended up failing out of college in 2012 and found myself back at home and working at a family owned business. It took me two more years to finally get my life around and start going back to college. I ended up being able to pay for two classes and ended up passing both.

Why does all of this matter? Because I'm an avid gamer, and since I first found out about eGO in 2008, I've been playing there almost non-stop. CS:S helped me through some rough college experiences, and TF2 has helped me through he annoyances currently going on. TF2 has helped me through many of the annoyances I currently feel, and the acceptance of the community has made me want to expand my eSocial experience and try out new games; leading me to awesome people like Megs A Tagger from the DoD:S, JoeyHyung from TF2, Insomnia Princess from TF2, Killera from TF2, and so many more. I don't have any real connection to the games, instead the community; I was 15 when I first joined, I'm 21 now, and I have always respected eGO and yearn for a time where the gaming community would embrace eGO's philosophies.

Thank you to everyone who has talked to me and let me vent. Thank you to the admins who keep the servers clean and at a standard of maturity. Thank you to JohnT and Artimus for having a vision, and of course, thank you to the community.

Happy Holidays everyone! I will see you in the new year.

Well life moves on and I am glad gaming and eGO has brought you joy.
I just joined at a low point in my life and I am 21 and so far the community has helped keep my mind off the negative thoughts I was having and gaming with my cs_italy friends kept me away from relapse.
So as a new member this is a cheers to a happy holidays and to my first new years with eGO and hopefully to many more!

I understand completely, there have been days where work beats me down and I come in-game and in TeamSpeak and have some gut wrenching laughter. To many more!

To many more!

Edit- You can't forget the gut wrenching rage from being destroyed either.

happy new year @ merry xmas and sorry for what you been thoght my friend

Aww, Dr. Know! I haven't met you yet because I mostly play CSS Italy, but I liked reading your post. I am glad that you found a community that helped you get through hard times. I know Doom and I am very glad to have met him. He is a great person and the support that online friends can provide is at times life saving. We are all human and crave the feeling of friendship and being connected with people. I too am glad for the admins on eGO servers who keep a mature and clean standard. It was the biggest draw that made me like eGO in the first place.

Happy Holidays to you and your family! See you around :)

Good read. Made a post like this myself a few days back. Always great to hear about how eGO has helped people with struggles in life.
