So heres my dilemma; im not exactly hating on the iPhone, but it seems to be the ONLY phone available for free as an upgrade. I have been eligible for a upgrade since like Sept or so. I am wanting to get a rather affordable Android phone & flash it over to cyanogenmod. My question is which phone do you guys recommend that works the best on it? I understand that Samsung, LG & HTC all make great phones, so I am definitely open to suggestions. I have the original Samsung Galaxy S (the great grandfather of all the current ones) & its a beyond slow pos

Is there such a thing as 'working best' I think the team codes for specific models don't they?
All I can say is it has certainly improved my HTC one X. That thing was a paperweight before the flash.
I've heard good things about the S4, well my girlfriend owns one and she seems happy with it. Although the trend for big phones isn't something I am fan of. Not very pocketable...

There is also a phone called the oneplusone, which comes with cyanogenmod as stock so I imagine that would be phone that works best with the ROM.

I still have my Galaxy S2 and have had for close to 3 years. If you are looking for an older phone to flash, the Galaxy S2 is definitely a great phone. I know from personal experience that this phone is easily flashed to CM. Whatever you pick, do not pick a lesser-known phone, as there are no guarantees that it works with CM. Alternatively, you can see which phones are compatible here, on their wiki.

It depends what you want to use your phone for. If you're looking for performance, go for the Galaxy S4/5 or Note Series. If you're looking for a slick, good looking phone, you can try the Galaxy Alpha.
For HTC, try the HTC One. As for Sony, my friends and I do not recommend so, unless you like using your phone underwater (Xperia Z Series)
But take note if you're gonna root your phone, there's no turning back and it voids your phone's warranty.
