It's time for a showdown! Think you have the skills to match up against some of the best in Arena Respawn? Form a 5-man team and join the fray!

February 6th, 7th and 8th.
Semi Finals and Finals on February 13th and 15th.

Opening matches will fall on February 6th, 7th and 8th. Play will resume on the 13th and the 15th

How does Arena Respawn Work?

Arena: Respawn is a modification of TF2's Arena gamemode developed as an alternative to sixes, created by awk. Your goal is to eliminate the enemy team as quickly as possible. There are no respawn timers, but you can capture the central control point to respawn the dead members of your team.

Capping the point while you already own it will result in a minicrit debuff until you leave the capture area. The only weapon banned from play is the Vaccinator; all other weapons in the game are allowed, and players are encouraged to experiment with different loadouts and strategies.

These servers run a modified version of Arena: Respawn with additional crit mechanics. The crit mechanics present on these servers are not present in competitive play.

The Pro Battle League (PBL) is also accepting signups for teams interested in playing A:R pick-up games. Get details in the PBL Steam Group.

Rules and Gameplay:

This event will be a ladder-match style tournament that randomly places 5-man teams against one another to determine a winner. After that, winners will go on to play other winners in the next bracket.

This continues until we have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team.

We have some REALLY exciting prizes for the winners, which will be announced shortly so stay tuned to this thread for info and FAQs.

FAQ
Q. Will there be a class ban system?
A. Comp A:R is played with both teams picking a class to ban before the match starts. (This is built into the plugin when in Tournament Mode.)

Q. What region will the event servers be in?
A. The matches will take place on eGO servers, so NA.

Q. Can teams have subs?
A. Each team can have up to 2 subs sign up with their 5-man roster.

Q. What time will the matches be?
A. Friday, there will be matches from 5pm EST to midnight. On Saturday, 10am to midnight. Exact times of your matches will be posted today, January 22nd in the evening. We will link here when it's live.

We invite you to create 5-man teams and designate one captain as your leader. Each member will need to create an account on the EdgeGamers forums and verify your Steam ID. This is just to verify you in the tournament. You will EACH need to sign up in this thread with your team name and please designate who the captain is.

If you do not have a team but you'd like the opportunity to play with a random team, please sign up and put "Wildcard" as your team name and we will place you on a team at the end of signups.

Signups end on January 16th. This is to allow us time to form the brackets and schedule the matches.

When I signed my team up, "Merasmus' Minions" over a month ago, I signed us up under the assumption that this competition was to be an organized, professional experience for all parties involved. However, I have found that this tournament to be badly managed, with horrible communication regarding competition dates, prizes, or other crucial information, with the staff in charge of the tournament withholding said details until the last minute. That said, I am formally withdrawing my team from this competition, as we will not support or endorse any tournament, competition, or other event with this level of mismanagement. I urge you, gEO, do not continue operating similar TF2 competitions until you have the knowledge, abillity, and structure to do so. With the enormous turnout and teams not showing up, I feel the event is going fine thus far. However, I do not expect you to understand how much work has gone into planning this event, regardless of the set backs.

I assure you, had this been properly communicated to my team and the other competing teams in a timely manner, and not posted on the forums at the last minute in order to save face, my team and I would have put in the effort to appear. But, as I'm sure a professional like yourself could understand, it is difficult to organize anything when one hasn't first taken the time to communicate with the other parties involved. Given the limited flow of information regarding timing, expectations, schedules, prizes, and other information crucial to running any professional gaming event that your group has provided thus far up to this moment, is it so hard to understand why we did not appear?

Also, if you are unable to handle rejection or constructive criticism in a professional manner appropriate to the management role you hold, than do not operate events of this level. Your organization made a lot of promises regarding scheduling, communication, and failed to deliver on multiple occasions, overall acting in a manner I presume to be suspicious at best.

Unless you are able to continue this conversation calmly maturely, please do not spew hateful and sarcastic remarks towards me and members of my group. Thank you, and have a good day.

Interesting, I posted a comment earlier today expressing my concern at how this tourament is being handled, and right after the admin rages in a follow-up comment, he deletes the whole conversation. I would not recommend trusting this group. They don't tolerate negative or constructive feedback very well. I'll probably be banned for posting this comment now.

Ok while I'm pulling out what little hair I have left trying to figure out what I just screwed up. I wanted to jump in here an inject a couple things. Please understand that we had a lot of real life affairs happen prior to this event actually taking place. The real life affairs hindered our original start times/dates. I'm very sorry we had to delay this event, but real life affairs come first.

We've got 3 people working the brackets right now trying to ensure all teams that show up are able to compete. We've got teams that are still trying to change times, and move things around. It's very frustrating for our management team, but again we're trying to do our best. Sometimes frustration takes its toll, and things are said out of haste. I'm asking that you understand, and accept my apology for this misunderstanding. We've tried really hard to manage this correctly, fairly and swiftly.

We've learned a lot from this tournament, and hope to improve things prior to our next major event. Thanks again for your hopeful understanding, and hope you rejoin for our next event.

If we would of known about this sooner our lives would have been much easier organizing this tourney. Unfortunately it was too late to incorporate and would of caused the tourney to become delayed for a 3rd week trying to get all the teams signed up and checked in.

So please understand we are doing our best to be as organized as possible with a 'few' bumps in the road. As Hammer has stated above we had unexpected issues prior to the event which caused the delay.

All in all, we appreciate the feedback and I invite you to add me to your steam friends as well if you would like to give us some feedback for the next tourney!

Hey eGO team! I have a proposal for the prizes. Perhaps not the 1st place, as I suppose you guys have already bought those items, so I am proposing a prize set for 2nd and 3rd place.

I'm suggesting some ideas because I think the disparity between the current 1st and 2nd place prizes is quite great. You're going from hundred dollar items, to items that are skimming $10. I think perhaps you guys could up that by far, and have 3rd place tail the 2nd place prize set by a small margin.

Mechanical keyboards, gaming mice, more (sub 100, sub 200, sub 300) headsets?
I mean, I don't know how you guys stand monetarily, but these suggested items would make much more sense in giving the teams a sense of accomplishment and pride in participating in and winning the eGO tourney.

I know this sounds weird, but if anything, I could even help you guys look up considerable prizes for the line-up and arrange them accordingly. Let me know.
