Genarlly I just drink straight from the can when I drink soda but my parent's say that using a straw is better for my teeth.

I also clean the drinking part. The funny thing is I have friends who drink with straws and alwasy request them, yet when they drink beer or alcohol they don't use them. I think it's funny. I don't think beer has enough alcohol content to kill bacteria, but I'm no scientist either so I don't know! :) And yes, one day I tried drinking beer through a straw....yeah.......

I'm trying to stop drinking pop but when I do its just the can. I kinda think a straw would be weird.

LOL, that was totally what I was thinking when I read the topic. I don't know if using the straw while drinking beer is a good idea. It reduces the amount of oxygen you can get, and get you drunk sooner. It is just like when people from sea level comes to Colorado and have one or two beer get you drunk. It is actually quite entertainment watching them try to figure out how one beer get them so drunk.

The reason for the straw while drinking soda is because of the acidity. Soda has a PH of about 2, which will wear out the enamel on your teeth quite quickly. Another thing that may seem weird is that if you brush your teeth and then drink the soda, you actually do more harm, because the enamel is softened and it causes more damage than before. The straw just keeps the soda from corroding your front teeth pretty much. It is the equivalent of biting into a lemon and leaving your teeth in it more or less.

I hate drinking out of cans so I pour the contents into a glass or a plastic travel mug.

I always drink straight from the can, after cleaning it off, but it is better for your teeth/gums to drink from a straw

Bah! I don't use a straw and I don't clean off the can. All that extra bacteria you might be exposed to will just put some more hair on your chest! (Although, this might not be desirable for the girls on the board, so I would recommend that you ladies go ahead and use a straw.)

Straight from the bottle.....wait..are we still talking about pop arnt we....>.> *puts away her brown paper bag*
