Lately I've been having serious issues with low FPS and extremely high ping while in the Heavy Metal server. I've never had problems before, but for some reason over the past week it's been so bad that I can't even play. I've checked with my ISP, no issues around here, my router and computer seem to be good, etc. Any thoughts of what might be going on or what I could do? The ping will go to 999, drop back to the mid hundreds, drop lower to where i used to play (103 or so) and then shoot back up to 999.

Anyone else experiencing issues?

I've tried everything. Ran virus scans, uninstalled updates, etc. I will say that I still pulled a 2-0 KD at 999 ping just now in Heavy Metal LMAO!!

Seriously though..there has got to be a solution to this. Computer gurus...let's hear your thoughts!!!!

Time to come clean, I'm the cause of any lag, while playing the server is under extreme load compiling my points, as soon as I start playing the server floors itself, I'm like the "Lawnmower man" with the shit. My apologies

I knew it. I was told to try replacing my eithernet cable. Also tried to play Battlefield 4 last night but had to download new drivers, etc. That REALLY slowed my computer down so I uninstalled them. It would really help if I knew computers inside and out.

That Was Happening To Me While I Was In The States.. I Tried Playing Like That For A Month And Nothing Could Fix It.. Then I Came Back To Turkey And It Stopped.. I Dont Think Its Your System Or Anything.. It's Connection Related.. Cuz I Was Playing With The Same Pc And Everything There And Here..

Is connection related different than being server related? I figured that if it were server related, whoever is running the server would have detected the problem(s) and corrected it.

I suppose if it was server-related there would have been many more people affected and the server gods would have been notified. I get lag on HM and I have 50mb service, tested at 15ms by ookla. I've also crashed (No BSD, No error) to desktop on a regular basis...mostly when the server is full.

If I ookla Houston servers I get substantially higher ping compared to other Texan cities, so perhaps it's some high-latency server in the pipe between you and HM...tracert?

Have you installed any new hardware or updated drivers, especially vid, lately?

Yes It Is Different.. In Server Related Problems It Would Be Caused By The Server You Are Playing And Wouldnt Happen In Other Servers,, In Your Case, Which Was My Case Too, It Was Happening In Every Server.. Which Means It's Being Caused By Your Connection System.. And As Yoomanist Said, If It Was Caused By The Server It Would Happen To Everyone.. So There's Sth Wrong With You Connection, Which You Might Be Able To Solve With Your Provider I Think..

Agreed. Since this has never happened before, I thought that possibly I got routed through a bad server between me and the HM server. How does this work...do I go through different servers everytime I connect to HM, or does the internet route switch ever so often? Noob questions I know.

I bought a new coax cable and Ethernet cord yesterday. Comcast is coming to activate the cable jack in the room where the computer is. Once that's done I'll run directly off the router/modem. Maybe something went wrong with the Belkin wifi adaptor and eleminating the wifi will help.

I'll check AMD when I get home for updates.

Okay first off, Iron Kaiser. Never run off your modem. You never ever ever want to be plug directly into your modem because it causes security risks. It is best to put your computer on a router for the hardware firewall and to make sure your network will be safe.

Secondly, I will explain how networking works towards a server. When you are try to connect to a server lets say, Hardline (Dallas, Texas) and a person is in Canada. It never takes the same route to get to the server. There are routers all over the world that push you to your destination. If one line is congested with a lot of activity, it will reroute you to another route and so on. What I think is, like Scientisto said, more of a personal network and you should see a difference with a hard connection instead of a wireless connection.

But I have a question for you, what are your computer stats and is it a laptop or desktop?

Sorry, a router is what I have. My computer is a desktop...I'll get you the specs when I get home this evening. Thank you for helping.

I've had odd lag of late as well, but I haven't been able to figure out if it is myself or the game. I just say whatever and move on with life.

I agree, but my ping stays at 999 and I cannot play what so ever.

Insidious..I have a Cooler Master/ CyberPower PC

8.00 GB RAM
64-bit Operating System
Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 1090 T Processor 3.20 GHz

Almost every
time I'm on the server someone is making a comment about the lag. I have ping go from 120 to 999 and get kicked all the time. Do we all have bad internet providers?

Beats me, Comcast is coming this afternoon. Hopefully the hard connection instead of wifi will help. Something had to have really gone south though because my average ping used to be 103.25ms (Latency: 51.63ms).

That's a good point as well. Funny how I went to having next to no issues the past couple years to all of a sudden not even able to play the game.

I think it's been a problem since before the attacks (which I only inferred from security screen we had for a couple of days...this is the first I've actually heard of it. I best check the news, eh?)

Direct cabled connection is always the way to go, especially if the machine you're using isn't portable. Glad that seemed to work

Anyone ever crash to desktop? It happens quite often to me that I'll be in the middle of the game, the screen will freeze for a second, then the game disappears. I don't get an error message, no bluescreenofdeath, not even an error-ding...and I can restart the game immediately as if nothing happened. Nothing shows up in event viewer either. I hate pc mysteries.
