Steam games not working after my re-format.

When I start up DoD:S or TF2 heres the error window I get:

hl2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. (Pssh; yea right)

When I see what the error report contains here's what they say:

This error report includes: information regarding the condition of hl2.exe when the problem occurred; the operating system version and computer hardware in use; your Digital Product ID, which could be used to identify your license; and the Internet Protocol (IP) adress of your computer.

I only understood a fraction of what that meant. If there is anyone that is more computer savvy than I am I would love some advice or help.

Seems like the Source engine is not agreeing with your PC. What video card do you have? OS? Make sure you have the latest video drivers installed.

Thanks Monkee, I think I got it to work now. I just need the time off school to play at all.
