Played about 2 dozen hours or so of Life is Feudal. Two things about this game that I think really will influence your opinion:
1) Server. Every server can set the game to have allow max skill levels across the board, or limit them to a certain number. The developers have stated that the finished product is expected to be an MMO where you only have a set level of skill points. So when you play, you can't max out everything; you will have to specialize in a skill set, and join a community to help support you (and them).
2) Admins. There are a number of bugs that have already been identified, but still haven't been fixed yet. The way to deal with them is playing on a server with knowledgeable, active admins who can fix the issue and remove the bug.
I joined several friends to play the game, however, we had a bug with one item that took almost a week to fix because the server admins disappeared (which delayed our construction layout). Additionally, there were two or three known pvp-griefers who would roam the land to kill and steal, and these guys were ridiculously high-level, with steel armor, and weapons. While my group of builders had, at best, several slings, a few pitchforks, and leather armor. Good to fight a bear, but not these guys. Needless to say, they stalled our construction even more and robbed the enjoyment of the game where we eventually quit.
I also forgot to mention that leveling skills can be very fast or very slow. Our server was normal (quick skill gain at low levels, very slow at higher levels, like .002 points per attempt). And the way skills are setup are not very smooth or logical. Ex. I have to first level sling/basic throwing weapons to level 60, which I can then start learning to use a crossbow (if someone can make one and ammo for me). After I level that, I can then level and use a bow. However, a craftsman can first learn how to build bows, and later learns how to make crossbows.... Not quite synced up right to learn and not waste resources.
