Which do you prefer? I use the A4 in casual games and the A1 in competitive games. The only complaint I have about the A1 is its magazine capacity, but usually that's made up by the insane accuracy of the rifle.

Depends on what role you play if you're playing competitive. I use the A4 since I'm normally wall banging and shooting through smokes. but the A1 is a good gun for straight up fraggin imo
 
I switch a lot between the two, I agree with ex, it definitely depends on the role you are playing. If you are for example on nuke playing outside, you may want to use an A1, where as a ramp player may want to go for an A4.
 
I've already preferred the A4 because the magazine compensates for the loss of accuracy. Also, I find it more accurate in some occurrences.
 
always have and will use the a4. definetly better if you wallbang and spray through smokes a lot. also better if you are the anchor in small site, need the ammo capacity for rushes. a1 is better if you are playing big site, or if you are the rotator from small site
 
You gotta think about what role you play, what type of player you are and what spot you play. For example if you're a solo ramp player, you Probally want to use the a4 due to a potential Rush, those extra bullets will save you. But if you are the ramp rotator who plays around turnpike and hell, the a1 will be best in that situation because you being able to pick off people from the side without them noticing where it's coming from. If you like to spray like me, you prob need to use the a4, and if you have 'scream' like aim the a1 will best suit you. when it comes down to it, it's all about your preference in game :)

The M4a1-s is also good for dem spraydowns at banana on Inferno. I managed to get a 4k spraydown, the last guy still at mid picking w/ awp. It was a good day. Thank you, flashbangs.
 
M4A4 due to more ammo & because Dragon King.
I only use the M4A1-S if it's dropped and I only got a pistol haha
 
I see that most people that are main awp and people who may be playing in somewhere like pit in inferno. people supporting the awp tend to use the a4 to be able to hold an aggressive angle.
 
I usually stick with the M4A1 because I burst fire or single shot a lot for headshots. I'll use the M4A4 though for close and mid range spraying if the M4A1 isn't working out.
