Imagine if that was on pc and someone had to pirate that. That would take weeks to get. I still cant believe its over 50 GB.

I still can't believe it's not butter. <_<
Anyway, I thought Blu-Ray could hold 50 gigs.

It can, but it's OVER 50 gigs.

Hours (maybe days?) of uncompressed audio here I come. I'm going to have to invest in some nice headphones before this comes out. Also they should have just put MGO on a second disc if it means giving up every language on one version. They could have even had the option to install MGO to the hard drive if people really don't want to change discs.

I didn't have a problem changing discs for the original MGS, but that was because they game was so amazing that I felt it was justified. Frankly, I'd probably be the same way for this one, too.

Now this is a reason that it can't come to the 360.
Unless they release it with 2 discs... Which I doubt is possible.. It looks nonlinear.

Yeah for 360 they'd need over 5 dual layer DVDs, which is really impractical. I guess this somewhat reinforces the PS3 exclusivity of it. The addition of the Blu-Ray drive pays off further!

50 gigs... wow, how long is this game supposed to last, 30 hours? Over 50 gigs seems a bit much.

I'm guessing there's lots of textures, detail work, video, extras, etc. Knowing Hideo Kojima, and knowing that this is the end of the Metal Gear Solid series (he says), I can imagine he's packing it chock full of extras. For what it's worth, the MGS2 resissue ("Substance" I think), was so big that they had to cut stuff off the DVD.

Well, file size doesn't equate to length. Oblivion is how ever many hours you want it to be but they basically reuse the same assets for everything. Kojima has said that MGS4 however will take place in at least 5 different locations around the the world. That means new art assets for every area. As for movies taking up space that's only true if the movies are FMV and not real time which all MGS cut scenes are. The intro video is supposed to be like 12 minutes though. Assuming it's pretty good quality 12 minutes of HD video is a good chunk right there.
