Server Changes: Foundry

Would it be too much of a crazy out mind Idea to advertise we have a TS3 server and we allow moderate swearing there? I have to agree with Nix thats another thing we get notoriously dinged for every flipping table time. I like eGOs no swearing in servers cause I personally dont find the need to express myself like that. I rarely curse in RL tbh. im no sailor but there arw some that just use it in thier everyday language. Invite them to TS3 as part of thier Warning I would say. ..but just an idea.

Before anything, we should remove random crits on CP Rotation: A lot less people would swear, and the skills would be exaltated.

I've wondered myself why we're one of the few servers in the world that hold up some sort of no-swearing rule. And to be honest, I don't see a problem with it. You're in control of what you type and say, always. If people get that mad at us or abandon us over one rule, which really doesn't affect much, then frankly, they're not the people I want to play with.

We really aren't, there's many servers out there that literally just have a rule for not being a jerk, which is essentially the only rule in R rooms. With this, admins can relax more while players don't have to mind the language or get banned. You are right that people can control what they type and say, but it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to filter their own vocabulary when they're playing a game and having fun. Now if they're using every word in the book to harass or bully other players, that's not something I would want, either.

I like the idea of an R-rated server running one popular map that we know has worked for a decent amount of time in the past (Harvest, Egypt, etc). Obviously, members couldn't swear, like in BF servers.

but it doesn't make a lot of sense for them to filter their own vocabulary when they're playing a game and having fun.

The rule about filtering their own vocabulary is literally why I ended up here in the first place, and the only reason I love this community over the european communities I could be apart of if I cared about score or ping.
I'm also one of the people who have to filter my own vocabulary, since I talk like a sailor IRL, when I game on eGO servers. To me it makes a lot of sense, and so far so good.

To get somewhat back on topic, what new concept could we try? We obviously dont want to try for old servers again given how that went.

I saw comments about how some maps favor certain classes more than others. Could we maybe say yes to revising the list to balance the gameplay?

I think balance is something we could aim to look at, if we keep this style of server.

Something else to consider is that some of the top servers (according to GameTracker) use custom maps and gamemodes for TF2. I think that could be something to keep in mind, opening a server that's for fun and runs mods.

Custom maps this has been brought up before....

Hey Adam/ GardenGrove... whats the issue for not leaning towards that direction of game modes. Ive heard quickplay come up numerous times..Do we really need to have quickplay as a requirement for any changes we make?

I'm definitely not one to speak for the powers that be, but our servers have been in a depression since the DNS change and DDOS attacks. I think they're trying to get a large group of regulars back from quickplay until making non-quickplay servers.

I like the eGo no swearing rules. My son and I ended up on these servers due to this since we started when he was 12 (with no gibs mod, etc) and it was nice not having the n word thrown around all the time.

I don't play on eGo servers much lately. I still bump into my eGo friends on other servers, but I come to play tf2 as a fun end to an evening and playing on a server with 0 peeps doesnt do much for my stress relief.

I dont really like dustbowl or 2fort, so nowadays I end up playing somewhere other than eGo. I wish it wasn't the case, but apparently foundry server is dead for good. :(
