Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Why isn't there a Casual Server?

Filling servers has never been a 1 man job.

I've always been of the opinion that seeding an empty server doesn't do anything, as anyone who joins will just see you sitting in spec and then leave once they realize they are all alone. For a server to succeed, it needs regulars. Those found just in this community simply cannot permanently keep a server afloat.

I don't see why blame is being thrown around like someone has to be at fault for a servers decline. Regulars stop being regulars, life goes on, servers move in and out of popularity. Nobody should be personally attacked for a servers decline.

I know. Seeding a server is only effective when you also have people actively playing. It's a buffer to make the server look like it has a lot of people making it attractive. It works some of the times. You are correct. People found just in this community can't do it forever. We can however get it started but we seem to not even be able to do that in recent times. I some times look at our efforts and think, "Damn good job." However, even with the efforts to push Office into the top 300+ it now sits at 1600 in CS:S. I guess this can be credited to it being a dying game, but is Dust2 that much ahead in popularity as to constantly stay top 10? Maybe.

Blaming people is easy. It's hard to figure out where the true blame should fall though. To a certain extent it is leaderships fault for not doing something. Anything. Contest, actually trying to fill the server, trying new things within the current server, again... anything. Just letting it fade into obscurity is wrong. I had many ideas for Minigames that weren't actually looked into for almost weeks. When they added the maps I thought would make the server more fun they needed settings to make them work. When I asked for those settings I was met with a "its to hard and time consuming." Ok. I get it. You don't care. As for regulars not being regulars anymore, this is true. Life does go on. Servers move in and out of popularity. However, no one is being personally attacked.

Personal Attack: Making of an abusive remark on or relating to one's person instead of providing evidence when examining another person's claims or comments.

This is actually the definition of an ad hominem, not a personal attack. When I say personal attack, I'm not referring to them refuting an argument, but rather someone posting simply to criticize someone else.

You are correct but I believe a personal attack has gone beyond what you described it has to become synonyms with ad hominem. I am glad though that this was the only thing you refuted in your reply.

its only synonymous with ad hominem if its related to arguing a point. Sometimes someone is just being abusive.

I never ventured into minigames and have little experience with which to argue against your points. I don't know what settings were required or for what maps, but I do know that most server settings can be changed by the map itself as long as the map is compiled with a cfg file and the server has the appropriate commands white-listed.

You aren't wrong but ad hominem, to me, seems like a very broad term which can be applied to personal attack in the sense I was making. I could be wrong...

However, you are right about the other thing. It's not hard. The other mini games server had something like this as it was apparent how some maps had props that could be knifed across the map, and other maps didn't have these settings.

In cs:go the phys_pushscale cvar was removed(?). Some cs:go maps got creative and added a push trigger to your knife that will activate when you left click, allowing props or whatever to be pushed. But a map on source that required pushing things wouldn't work on cs:go without a few changes.

I can see that. The settings are there but making them so they only apply to the maps you want is the hard part but its possible. Ive seen other mini game severs in GO do it.
