Update 3/8/15 12:00 PM: Website Maintenance complete. A huge thank you goes out to GamingRobot, Oey, and GardenGrove for their work on the website this morning.

While you guys have been busy filling servers, making jokes, and bashing heads in with various blunt objects, the Tech Team has been hard at work consolidating servers, tweaking knobs, and trying not to forget to feed the hamsters. While the Tech guys have managed to do a lot of this without disrupting things too much, they have a big move to complete that requires some downtime.

This upcoming Sunday, March 8, the Tech Team will be performing maintenance on the website during a 5-hour window from 7 AM - 12 PM Eastern. The forums will be completely inaccessible until maintenance has been completed, but DAPS and MAUL should only experience brief outages. All game servers should remain unaffected by this maintenance, so we will be counting on you to keep them punk-free while you take a brief respite from the forums.

What: Website Maintenance
Date: Sunday, March 8
Starts: 4 AM Pacific | 5 AM Mountain | 6 AM Central | 7 AM Eastern | 12 PM Greenwich
Ends: 9 AM Pacific | 10 AM Mountain | 11 AM Central | 12 PM Eastern | 5 PM Greenwich
Where: The Internet
Who: Everyone
Why: Sometimes the hamsters just need a break, OK?

FAQ

Q: Will I have admin in the servers if MAUL is offline?
A: Only if you have previously joined the server since the launch of MAUL 2

Q: What happens to my bans if MAUL is offline?
A: They should be put into MAUL once it comes back online, but you should double check to make sure.

Q: Can I donate my hamster to the cause to reduce the maintenance window time?
A: Our hamsters must be specially trained before being allowed to run the servers. Sadly there is not enough time to train your hamster before the maintenance.

Your patience throughout this matter is greatly appreciated!

Why is the webpage on fire, or being burned, or in ash, does this mean we literally burned our hamsters to death.

Somebody get peta

In what way shape or form does Maul V2 need to be updated? I can't tell if this is a joke or not.

Please elaborate......

One thing would to not use the LONG version of source ID's and actually use the proper Steam ID's. I've had cases as an admin where I want to search a players steam ID on our site using MAUL, but that is not possible, or if it is I do not know how

Yea why did we stop using STEAM2 Id's? (STEAM_0:X:XXXXXX) Currently the majority of source players use this as their way of identifying a player :L It's so much easier, if that's to change when source 2 comes out then change to different Id's then? :)

Also under MAUL 2 the DS Settings dont seem to change anything to do with CS.

This I was also curious about since before the 'Find User' button under eGO Tools could be used with either their name, Maul ID, or SteamID, and now it's just their gameID or name.

Oh another thing that I have heard from leadership members is that when a player comes to contest a ban is that the banning admin is not notified by a PM like the previous version of MAUL as well as Notes are not included in the ban contest. In some cases Leadership has to contact the banning admin and in others they just handle it themselves. I've also been told that since the notes do not automatically show up (if the admin filled them out) that the members of leadership have to go and search for them unlike in the past where if the banning admin filled them out they automatically were in the ban contest.

Another thing that happens quite a lot is that when CS:GO and perhaps other games have updates it's messes with the names and eGO tagging system. As in we can have our name as our forum profile shows and not have the tags added and still have access to admin permissions since MAUL2 adds the tags to our name. (another leadership member told me about this)

I've also been told that people do not like the UI of MAUL that it's "too bulky" and other things as such. Some have told me that "why fix something that wasn't broken" These are things that I have heard. My biggest complaint was just the Steam ID thing, but these are things that I hear from members AND Leadership.

I don't mean to come off as rude or anything since I know a lot of time and work has gone into the update of MAUL, I just think there are some things that need to be worked on and tweeked as well as others seem to think the same thing it seems. If anything I hope this is of some use and taken as suggestions and not some kind of blasting at anyone.

Thank you tech team for getting up at 4 AM to work on a project that is voluntary. We appreciate all the hard work everyone on the tech team has put in.

We know there are multiple things on our list that needs to be fixed, but posting about them in a newspost that has absolutely nothing do with the OP is sort of disheartening because there hasn't been a single thank you in this thread thus far except for the /best thread award in 2013/.

It was my fault for asking for elaboration from you, so I apologize for that. Before posting what you think we don't know about, please check with your DL's or make a dropbox post and we can respond to you there.

A special shoutout goes to GamingRobot and Oey for all their hard work and diligence put into this project that they are not getting paid for.

Sorry Garden I did think of putting it in the dropbox but you did ask me to elaborate so I did so. My apologies, By no means am I ungrateful for the hard work put towards the system what so ever. Clearly my DL's know about it as I spoke to them, but I was told of no resolution or plans to resolve the problem(s).

Sorry about my "outburst" if that is what you may want to call it.

Thanks for the hard work Tech Team. Looking forward to the new updates.

I think you guys are seriously underestimating my Hamster.

Herbert the Hamster has won multiple Hamster Olympics, specifically in the "500 hour server dash" and the "Carrotshot" where he threw his carrot a whole 10 inches. It was a world record.

He also is the president of HADDDOS. (Hamsters against Drugs and Drunk Driving and Other Stuff)

So I think Herbert could help.

edit:

Oh he just let me know that he has a speaking engagement at Harvard University school for hamsters
