startup tip: disable valve tf2 startup movie by going into your steam games window, right click on TF2 > properties > set launch options and add: -novid

You know what's also another way to speed things up. Most of you probably already do this but I just discovered it a couple of weeks ago. Instead of running TF2 and then looking for a server, just click the Servers tab at the bottom of Steam and join one from there.

Even better would be if there was a way to just specify the IP of a server at game start. The server refresh actually kills my DSL modem, so I'm not a big fan of it. :)

Now, I already have -condebug in set launch options...do I just tack -novid on the end?

already knew how to do this, and it definitely helps to save precious of your seconds that could be used for gaming! :D

The one at the very beginning when you load the game. "Bald head" one with the valve on the back.
[/quote1205050248]The one that many of us swear is Baron Rojo. :p

-console: Enables the console
-window: Runs the game in a window
-dxlevel 80: Forces DirectX 8.0 mode, good to improve FPS on low-end systems.

To be honest, I just tap the Escape key when the bald head pops up. It takes maybe an extra two or three seconds at game startup for me.

I've used two or more options like this with other programs, so it stands to reason this would work as well. All I've had to use was a space between and all is well.

ty for posting this, I never knew i could do this! Now i can start my game it up practically twice as fast
