overclocking

I have never overclocked before, but I have been playing around the last couple of days. I have an intel i5-2500s at 2.70ghz so, I bumped it up to 4.0 mhz. My idle temps are 28 to 30 c and my load temps are at 64 c. I used intelburn on very high setting and cpu voltage is at 1.246 v. So what I wanted to know is, how do these numbers look :confused1: Thanks

You underclocked it to only 4 mhz? You probably mean 4 Ghz. xD
What I have read 4 Ghz is about the max you can get out of it. I would not push it as non K cpus are actualy not ment to overclock.

Your right, I meant 4 ghz( duh ) So I guess I should run as stock then to be on the safe side. Thanks for the advise

Overclocking shortens the life of your parts through higher speeds and more heat higher voltage etc. With little benefit in the overall scheme of things. Unless you need to bump something up like to get ram to run to speed or some other part, The only time you will really notice it is in a benchmark...
Tweak settings and windows etc.

I use to overclock quite a bit, however I agree with what Reality said. It does shorten the life of your parts. And a lot of times can void your warranty. The majority of the time you won't notice a big difference.
