Here's my setup:
A flightstick pro. Decent joystick though the servo motors inside are going so sometimes it's loose (and that really can throw me off).

The throttle kinda sucks. It's a lever, but really, it's either 100 or 0. So I keep it at 100, and use the S key to slow it down to about 315 for turns, use the SHIFT key for afterburner to break away if I am in a straight line.

And that's it.

So what's my problem? Dunno, can't get away in a dogfight because I feel I am telegraphing my moves, and can't shoot down an enemy because they are not telegraphing their moves. I am turning hard, 45 degrees, in whatever direction at 315, going high and attacking from there, nothing really works. An entire afternoon of 0-20 games is starting to get tiresome.

I've tried 20mm, 25mm and 30mm and am not sure what to do. I honestly feel I have better luck with the 25 but it really is just luck. Not sure what I am missing on skill.

thanks dudes!

Try watching some youtube videos, may take some time but I found a lot of useful info there, I am in no way a pro at jets...yet but I do remember from BF2 they take practise, in BF4 more so, and fighting already established pilots does not help the pride either but it will teach you what not to do.
Just from what I have learned that throttle control is a fairly big issue, as with it you are telegraphing your moves so to speak, not sure what to do about it though other than a new joystick. Maybe try turning at a slightly higher speed..say...350?...........................

Hi Carmen Miranda

If u join us in ts channel 5 in BF4 im sure we can explain things easier we have plenty of skillful players there. :)

Thank you

Thanks Alex - will do sometime.

There were some skillful players I was on against last night who were helpful and some of the time I was turning, they were actually pretty far from me, or farther than I had thought, so not much you can do at that point vs 20mm.

The best thing I ever did while flying jets was bind pitch up and pitch down to my keyboard. It makes turning so much easier and faster than any joystick/mouse.
