So in case you didn't already know, I used to create maps for CS:S (mostly jailbreak) but then stopped because of time constraints. Well, today I decided to try my hand at creating a jailbreak map for CS:GO. It's still in its early stages but hopefully when I finish it, we can test it out in the rotation of the jailbreak server :) The theme is going to be a realistic jail setting (if you don't know what I mean, just wait :P )

P.S. I will be editing this post as I make progress on the map.

*UPDATE 3/20/15*

Added infirmary and a garage. Also improved lighting, lowered ceiling, and shrunk the cell block

Infirmary; the cross on the top will rotate but I'm having some problems with it rotating on the correct axis.

Lower ceiling and smaller area overall

If you need help with functionality, let me know.

oh and those stairs look a lil' big. 12 length x 8 height is usually what I go with(papa rogue taught me). make a ramp above them with a player clip to remove the bounce on every stair you ascend/descend.

Thanks for the tips; I'll take a closer look when I work on it tomorrow. And by ramp do you mean like a ramp that spans the entire length of the stairs or a tiny ramp on each step?

Either one would work, but a giant ramp that spans the entire length of the steps will make changing it/moving it easier to do later. Just use the clipping tool to fit it to the stairs. Its what I had to do with every set of stairs, as an 8 height step in source did not cause an instant change in elevation from the first person players perspective.

Like the look of the map dude and I'm sure we can have this on our server like I said ingame to you :) Thanks for making this!

No problem :) also, I will be posting updates to the original post instead of creating a new thread everytime so check back often

Lookin' good. Gonna need some well-made maps like this to ensure survivability for the server.

Finished the armory. The lighting is the hardest thing to get right so any tips are appreciated

try out light_spots. brightness 255 255 210 250, 45/60 inner/outer angles. it will give you a cone of what will be lit up, and the floors will also reflect the light to brighten up the upper parts of a room. for lights higher up above the ground, set constant to a high number. I'm pretty sure it makes it so the light goes further before fading off, so it will bounce off the floor/walls better.
Change angles/brightness as necessary to brighten up a room. just don't give them names. light spots will not bounce light when they are named. :|

I could probably do it with less lights by increasing the constant, brightness, and outer angle, but its good for now.

for very basic lighting, you can just copy paste a few light_spots around a room on the ceiling, covering an entire room. will usually get the job done even if it doesn't look fantastic, so its good for a start to see how the map looks. can worry about lighting and details later.
