Counter-Strike: Global Offensive this still hits me in the feels

Even though there is no standard punishment for match fixing, cheating is cheating no matter what form it takes. If I were to cheat(aimbot, wallhacking, speed etc) I would be banned. So the standard has to stand at any level of players, from casual to professional, so Valve uphold the rules. I do feel bad for them though as they are very skillful players and hopefully their fans will forgive them and move on. RIP

again, the team never "cheated"... so i dont understand where you are coming from.

All they did was fix matches, not cheat. I just learned about this and they did not cheat.
There isn't a rule on match fixing because I don't believe anyone ever had tried it also CS gaming hasn't become too profitable till GO released skins and now some people are just about the money.
Selling out.
Ca$hing out.
Don't blame them, but at the same time it's a shame they wasted fan's time watching that match to throw it and not care how their die hards felt.

the real tragedy here is that a51 finished below them in invite even though ibp (gx) got removed 4 matches into the season with the rest of them being forfeits. one of a51's wins was even one of the forfeits

It was a cevo regular season match. If people didn't lose skins no one would care. And if you didn't have an attention whore/ click baiter like Richard Lewis none of this would have been brought out. I understand that it is wrong to essentially steal from your fans, but the fans are the one who placed the bet in the first place. Think about what these players have done previously to help the community (streaming, instructional videos, and even dazed gave out his whole inventory in a twitch giveaway, not to mention watching my favorite team in tournaments :( )

Rip.

Oh yeah I can only imagine how mad people got with those skins.
Tisk tisk.
I like GO but don't see the appeal to the skins.
That was so CoD4 for 360.

You got to understand that there was no standard punishment for match fixing. I can understand where they came from.

????????????

It's not "skins"... it's the money associated with it. They literally stole thousands of dollars from their own fans. There is no denying that. Hell I lost about $100 on that match if I remember correctly. I could care less about skins... I'm out money because they fixed matches. Do you think they would be match fixing if they couldn't turn those items into real world currency? Hell no. If they were caught match fixing a sport like professional baseball or football then they would serve a much harsher punishment than simply being banned from future events. There is a standard for punishing match fixing... and they're lucky all they got was an indefinite ban.

I find it hard to believe you're actually defending this and going so far as calling the whistle blower an attention whore for bringing this to light.

I understand that it is wrong to essentially steal from your fans, but the fans are the one who placed the bet in the first place.

Please. Stop.

tbh if you don't realise the mistake of betting and the risks that go with it then blame yourself for losing out on money rofl

Well I don't think he would have this standpoint if the team would have lost because the other team simply beat them; they lost on purpose. I don't think its fair to say that is a "risk" that goes with betting.

Either way you put it down betting is just down to luck soo it will still kinda always be your fault for taking the risks you can't really argue against that its kinda down to you for betting a lot of money aha

But it wasn't luck. They controlled it.

Either way the the risk was put out there to bet so you generally shouldn't complain if you lost or won because you stuck the risk out there to lose the money.

xblade- a bazzlion for logic

I can't with you

:P

The arguments are pointless lol. You can't change the fact that thousands of people bet and thousands of people lost. You cant change the fact that they threw or that they're banned, we can all hope for them to be unbanned if you think they dont deserve it and you can hope for them to remain banned if you think they deserve that... We can't change anything lol

I could honestly care less that I lost money. This was almost a year ago. I do have an issue with people that actually try to justify what they've done and blame others, or the betters. They took advantage of their position and stole money from people. End of story. They don't deserve pity or special treatment just because they're your favorite players, and the betters certainly don't hold any blame for what they've done. You're actually trying to justify match fixing in which thousands of dollars was stolen?

You shouldn't have to consider match fixing when betting on any kind of sport. It's ridiculous that you suggest we need to.

Not once did I try to justify that they were right. Not once did I say it was ok to steal. You look at this one situation and think it outweighs the good that they have brought this community. Honestly who the hell cares. most of you only know these people from csgo. But let me tell you they have been helping the scene long before csgo came out. Azk was considered one of the best awpers of all time in source and made videos for the fans on the team dynamic youtube. Dazed has been helping people with his website for years. Stuff like that outweighs one match fixing incident where there were no rules for at the time. You think a perma ban is right when epsilon only got a year? Lmao. I think there should be a punishment, but perma is way too long.

You're entitled to an opinion, as am I. Don't bash me for mine.

No, I think epsilon and anyone else involved should get the same punishment. The "good" they've done for the community is totally washed away with the fact that they stole thousands of dollars from their fans and vehemently lied about it/kept quiet for months.
