ok guys so here is my problem, try to stay with me on this because it could sound a little wierd. I have my HD AV component cables that came with the xbox 360 hooked up properly, but when i go into the xbox 360 dashboard and i go to display settings it wont let me change the screen format between normal and widescreen. When the tab is flipped to TV and not HDTV it will let me switch between the 2. I have a 32" HDTV and it is a widescreen. When i flip the tab to HDTV on the component cables, and i go to system then console settings then display it wont let me change screen format and it tells me that i need to connect an xbox 360 HD AV cable in order to configure HD display modes.....But thats messed up because the HD AV cables are connected! Its so annoying, can anyone help me at all?

ya i had a problem just like that. sorry i cant help you with that my freind was saying that it might be my tv but he didnt know for sure so i dont know

yeah the main reason this is a problem is because I play NHL 08 and when you put it in high def it changes all the views around and makes the views alot worse becuz it sticks them in widescreen. If i can change it to normal then the views will be the same except high def.

have you tried another set of cables, or tried your cables on another 360. maybe your system or cable are wacked.

i havnt tried another set of cables because i dont have another set. i would have to buy another set for 30 bucks but if it doesnt work then im out 30 bucks

Okay you plugged the HD cables into the XBOX 360 but did you plug the other end of the cabes into an HDMI slot on your HD TV? I messed that up with my ps3..

If I remember right, I'm pretty sure when I used the HD component cable on my widescreen HD TV, it automatically set it for widescreen. I don't think I was able to change it either. Are you trying to force it into normal (4:3) aspect ratio? Or is the problem that it's not going widescreen for you as it should be? I'm at work now so I can't test anything but I can check my settings when I get home if you are still having problems with it.
